A real winner from Sonny Red's initial burst upon the New York scene – and a great mix of soul jazz and hardbop, all augmented by Red's wonderful tone! The group's a sextet, in the tight Jazzland style – and players include Barry Harris, Blue Mitchell, and Yusef Lateef. Tracks are relatively short, but solos are precise – and a few of the cuts feature Red as the only main soloist.
