Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so.
These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play,
but might detract from the looks.
May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be
intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under
the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record.
(Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
Possible minor surface noise when played.
Additional Marks & Notes
If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially
if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record.
This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip,
cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.
Funky stuff! Side one features Lyn Collins' famous version of "Think", much harder and heavier than any previous versions of the tune! The flipside's nice, too – and features a very dope laidback version of "Ain't No Sunshine", with Lyn's voice in fine fine form! Both ... 7-inch, Vinyl record
Classic funky soul from The Meters! "Sophisticated Cissy" was a follow-up to "Cissy Strut", and it's got the same tight grooves as that one – and some great Meters guitar! "Sehorns Farms" is another Meters classic – and the single's the kind of double-head ... 7-inch, Vinyl record
2 killers by the JBs! "Doing It To Death" is one of their best tracks from the early days – with a funky riffing sound you'll know immediately. "Everybody Got Soul" is an excellent party track with a great Maceo solo – lots of grooves, and the band is tight tight ... 7-inch, Vinyl record
Funky funky Rufus! This one's a monster – with great drums, rolling bass, and riffing guitar that scratches up the whole dark track to keep it nice and funky! Rufus' vocals hardly get in the way, and the cut's one of his funkiest ever! 7-inch, Vinyl record
A super-dope song from Marvin Gaye – and one that wasn't originally issued on LP! The track is a very righteous, very political tune – sounding almost more like Curtis Mayfield than Marvin, and with a heavy funky approach to the groove that takes the cut way past its politics! Really ... 7-inch, Vinyl record
Beautiful original single of Syl's classic track about racial disenfranchisement. The track's filled with deep deep Chicago soul, and it's a stunning set of haunting guitar-based arrangements that are beyond compare! The flip's a nice original, also written by Syl. 7-inch, Vinyl record
Great bit of Chicago soul, with some writing and production by Cleveland Eaton, and really great harmony vocals that dip and twist, yet sound super dark and moody! "Lifetime" is a great cut, with a deep descending intro that has a spacey sound, flanging around in the dark, and really ... 7-inch, Vinyl record
Some of Brother Jack's best work ever! "Oblighetto" is a cool moody spacey instrumental, and was sampled to great fame by Tribe Called Quest years ago. "Vibrator" is a bit more uptempo, and has a good Memphis soul sound. Both tracks great! 7-inch, Vinyl record
The Classic Sullivans were one of those great lost groups to record for a Warner Brother subsidiary in the late 60s/early 70s – and like all those groups, they never got the attention they deserved. "Paint Yourself In the Corner", despite the clunky title, is a great soul track ... 7-inch, Vinyl record
This is Hank's first version of the track, not the one produced by James Brown. That doesn't stop it from being nice and soulful, though – with a great rolling R&B groove that made it one of his best early moments! Killer vocals on both sides, too! 7-inch, Vinyl record
