Bossa No Paramount

LP (Item 28030) RGE (Brazil), Early 60s — Condition: Near Mint-
An excellent session of rare bossa material, recorded at the legendary Paramount Theatre, the temple to bossa nova! The album features tracks by a number of different artists, handled with a lot more care and a lot better recording quality than other live bossa sessions – and the result is one of the best compilations from the old days that we can think of. Features an amazing version of "Nana" by The Zimbo Trio, with a great funky bass breakdown in the middle – and other great tracks include "Vivo Sonhando" by Wanda De Sah, "Antes E Depois" by Oscar Castro Neves, "Tem Do De Mim" by Quarteto Em Cy, and a great duet on "Terra De Ninguem" by Marcos Valle and Elis Regina!  © 1996-2023, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Late 80s pressing. Cover has some wear and aging.)

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Como Dizia O Poeta
RGE (Brazil), 1971. Very Good-
One of the greatest 70s collaborations between Vinicius De Moraes and Toquinho – and a record that's made even nicer by vocals from co-composer Marilia Medalha! O Ceu Quem Vem De Voce
RGE (Brazil), Mid 60s. Very Good
A Brazilian singer with a hell of a voice – the lovely Helena De Lima, whose vocal range really fits the lush moods of the tunes on the set! Uma Noite No Cangaceiro
RGE (Brazil), Mid 60s. Very Good+
A live and lively little bossa vocal set – recorded at the Cangaceiro nightclub, with backing by a really great small combo! One of the best by the Zimbo Trio! The record features the group's core bossa sound, backed by a set of larger arrangements that help them go to town nicely on more modern MPB material – like Gilberto Gil's "Domingo No Parque", Chico Buarque's "Januaria" and "Roda ... LP, Vinyl record album
