Medley: Can Sing A Rainbow – Love Is Blue/Hallelujah Baby

7-inch (Item 27712) Cadet, Late 60s — Condition: Very Good

2 great tracks from the Dells' best years! "I Can Sing A Rainbow" is a righteous semi-political cut that's mixed in a medley with "Love Is Blue", all set to stellar spacey Charles Stepney arrangements, and nice hard drums. "Hallelujah Baby" is a great one, too – with a strong Cadet soul sound that's nice and strident, and filled with none of the cliches you'd expect from the title!  © 1996-2020, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Label has wear and pen.)

Very Good

  • Vinyl can have some dirt, but nothing major.
  • May not shine under light, but should still be pretty clean, and not too dirty.
  • May have a number of marks (5 to 10 at most), and obvious signs of play, but never a big cluster of them, or any major mark that would be very deep. Most marks should still not click under a fingernail.
  • May not look near perfect, but should play fairly well, with slight surface noise, and the occasional click in part of a song, but never throughout a whole song or more.
  • This is clearly a copy that was played by someone a number of times, but which could also be a good "play copy" for someone new.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Wonderful Chicago soul from The Dells! "There Is" is a strident Charles Stepney track, with insane production, and a hook that just won't quit! "O-O, I Love You" is much more in their older harmony style, and has a very classic group sound! 7-inch, Vinyl record

Two great cuts from this oft-overlooked east coast vocal group, who, at their best moments, could rank with the best of them. This is definitely one of their best moments, and "Extra-Ordinary People" could rank with some of the Stylistics best from the time. Their cover of the Eddie ... 7-inch, Vinyl record

Garland Green's great remake of this classic! He sings it with a nice deep Chicago soul style, augmented by some of the slightly modern/southern style production of the Spring label. "You & I Go Good" is even better, though – a sweetly stepping number that follows in the ... 7-inch, Vinyl record

A surprisingly wonderful single from the heyday of the mid 70s New York scene – a disco remake of the "I Love Lucy" theme song, done in a skipping, soaring groove that's really nice! The tune was actually a big one for Latin bandleaders of the 50s – and there's a bit of a ... 7-inch, Vinyl record
