Gravado Ao Vivo

LP (Item 27510) Copacabana (Brazil), 1974 — Condition: Very Good+
Benito sings kind of a lounge version of samba, with tight jazzy piano lines, and warm backing by a small combo and a vocal group. The best cuts get pretty lively, and the record's got some nice groovers buried in the mix. Titles include "Vou Cantar Vou Sambar", "Meu Enredo", "Tributo A Um Rei Esquecido", "Preludio No 4", "Novo Rio", and "Alem De Tudo".  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Black & white label pressing. Cover has edge wear, clear tape on the bottom seam, tiny peel at the top with some sticker remnant.)

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Elizeth Cardoso e Zimbo Trio

Balancam Na Sucata
Copacabana (Brazil), 1975. Good
The Zimbo Trio backs up Elizeth Cardoso on this groovy LP of bossa tracks recorded in a live setting. The set's got a few of those "pot pourri" selections, where the singer runs through a lot of different tunes in a medley – but the best cuts are the straight ones – like ... LP, Vinyl record album

A Bossa Eterna de Elizeth e Ciro Vol 2
Copacabana (Brazil), 1969. Very Good
The second volume of 60s samba tracks cut by Elizeth Cardoso and Cyro Monteiro – and every bit as great as the first one! The backing is by the small combo of Caculinha, which mixes together piano, accordion, organ, and bandolim into a choppy rootsy groove that's a perfect counterpoint to ... LP, Vinyl record album

Milestone, 1979. Very Good
One of Azymuth's best-remembered albums from their American years on Milestone – a really killer classic that beautifully blends Brazilian and American styles of fusion! There's a simple, elegant feel to these tunes that takes off nicely from the group's previous album for Atlantic in Brazil ... LP, Vinyl record album

Caetano Veloso

Bicho
Philips (Brazil), 1977. Very Good
Sweetly jazzy, funky, and soulful work from Caetano Veloso – a great departure from some of his headier work of the early 70s – and proof that he still sounds great, even when in sweetly melodic territory! The album's got some full backings from Perinho Albuquerque, but the sound is ... LP, Vinyl record album

Marisa Monte

MM
EMI (Brazil), 1989. Near Mint-
The first album by Marisa Monte, and the start of a fantastic run of records – really strong work that had Monte emerging as maybe one of the strongest new acts in Brazil at the time! The set is live, which is unusual for a debut – and that also makes for energy that's a bit more raw ... LP, Vinyl record album
