Tonto's Expanding Head Band

LP (Item 26788) Atlantic, 1975 — Condition: Very Good+

An analogue electronic classic – a huge crossover record from the early 70s, done with a pulsating, progressive sound that's a bit like the best early work by Tangerine Dream – but a fair bit tighter! Malcolm Cecil composed and performed the set – and it's a keyboard-heavy album with all electronic sounds – floating, flowing, and growing together in a nicely rough-edged studio mode. There's lots of dark machine sounds, bubbly pulsing bits, and a cold pre-Kraftwerk approach – and titles include "Cybernaut", "Jetsex", "Timewhys", "Riversong", and "Aurora".  © 1996-2020, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Cover has a cutout notch and light wear.)

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

An album so heavy, it blew plenty of minds when first released at the end of the 60s! Unconditionally Guaranteed

Not the Captain's finest moment, but still better than 80% of all the records ever made. Zoot Horn Rollo and Rockette Morton are still on board to lend a helping hand on these fairly tame, by Beefheart standards, numbers, including "Upon The My-O-My", "Sugar Bowl", "New ... LP, Vinyl record album
