The Astromusical House Of Libra

LP (Item 2634) Astro Stereo/GWP, 1969 — Condition: Sealed
Gatefold
Libras take note! This record is for you, with a book on your star sign, plus lots of music to accompany your reading. Tracks include "A Man and A Woman", "I Say a Little Prayer", and "Love Theme from 'Elvira Madigan'", a keen fave with all the Libras we know.  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Still sealed, with a small price code sticker.)

Sealed

This is what it says, that the record is still held fast in shrink-wrap. We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time, we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape — which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played, the record will still qualify as "Sealed".

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Hugo Montenegro

Dawn Of Dylan
GWP, Early 70s. Near Mint- Gatefold
Hugo Montenegro runs through a set of Dylan compositions with very baroque orchestrations. Recorded slightly before he was doing his moogy work, this one has Montenegro leading a vocal chorus that has a We Five sort of late 60's pop feel. The arrangements are very groovy and jangly, and the track ... LP, Vinyl record album

Enoch Light & The Light Brigade

Discotheque Vol 2
Command, Mid 60s. Very Good+ Gatefold
Some very groovy 60s instrumentals – played by Enoch Light's group with organ, sax, and a tight guitar-driven groove that's almost like the best work by Phil Bodner's Brass Ring. There's a campy groovy sound to most numbers – and titles include "The Jerk", "I Feel ... LP, Vinyl record album

Martin Denny

Quiet Village
Liberty, 1959. Very Good
An undisputed classic in the exotica genre – and the record that yielded Martin Denny his biggest hit! The title track "Quiet Village" was originally written by Les Baxter, but it was Martin Denny's approach that really managed to send the tune over the top – using spare ... LP, Vinyl record album
Liberty, Late 50s. Very Good+
Martin Denny's music always takes us away to the tropics – and this set is a whole Forbidden Island of exotica tunes! The record features the classic Denny exotica quartet with Augie Colon and Julius Wechter – plus some additional guest players on flute, percussion, and guitar – ... LP, Vinyl record album

Pedro Garcia & His Del Prado Orchestra

Cha Cha Cha Vol 3
Audio Fidelity, Early 60s. Very Good+
(Mono silver label pressing with deep groove. Cover has light surface wear & aging, small name in marker, split on spine.) LP, Vinyl record album

Morton Gould

More Jungle Drums
RCA, 1964. Near Mint-
Better than it sounds – as this one, like the initial Jungle Drums album, is low on the drums, and much more in the mode of Gould's usual light classic work. In fact, we're kind of hard pressed to hear any percussion at all – as the main groove is orchestral performances of Latin ... LP, Vinyl record album
RCA, 1968. Very Good+
A great little album of Latiny tunes from Henry Mancini – played by a very hip lineup of west coast jazzmen! The rhythms have a great mix of Latin influences and Mancini magic – the kind of grooves you'd hear on his 60s soundtracks at the time, played by a lineup that includes Bud ... LP, Vinyl record album

TV's Golden Hits
Compleat, Mid 1960s. Sealed
(Mid 80s issue, still sealed with a cutout notch and round sticker spot.) LP, Vinyl record album
Daybreak, 1973. Near Mint-
Tremendous stuff – an ultra-groovy 70s album from Nelson Riddle – with a sweet style that's very much like his two classics for MPS at the time! The songs are all Michel Legrand numbers – more than enough to entice our ears – and Riddle handles them with a nice mix of lush ... LP, Vinyl record album

Eugene Record

Eugene Record
Warner, 1977. Very Good+
A great solo moment from Eugene Record – the singer who'd rose to fame with The Chi-Lites, and who still sounds pretty darn great here on his own! The album follows strongly from the best late styles of Record's previous group – and the tunes are a mix of ballads that Eugene could ... LP, Vinyl record album
