Another one of those compilations that include a nice batch of unreleased tracks by mostly underground MC's, mostly on the laid back tip. (In this case you get 15 tracks for the price of an LP – a lot better than paying for them on single at $5.99 a piece.) Tracks include J-Live "Shyste", De La Soul & Truth Enola "Voicetress", Mos Def & Talib Kweli "Another World", Grap Luva "Touch The Sky", L Swift & A Butta "Ride This", Invisible Mics "Way Past Go", Big Twan "One For The Lyricist", Mr. Complex "Do It Up", Alice Russell "Someday", Subterranean "My Style Is Freaky", Big Kwam "Verbalise (Spinna rmx)", "Kwamanwiz", Pharoahe Monch "Tooley Crew Personified"  © 1996-2015, Dusty Groove, Inc.

We realize that there are many different interpretations of the standard grades used for pre-owned vinyl record albums & CD, so we thought we'd offer you the ones that we are working with, so you have an idea what we mean when we give the grade for a non-new item on our pages.

Used Vinyl Grades

Below are stated conditions for a used vinyl records at Dusty Groove. Grading for the cover should be assumed to be near (within a "+" or "-") the grading for the vinyl. If there is significant divergence from the condition of the vinyl, or specific flaws, these will be noted in the comments section of the item. However, please be aware that since the emphasis of this site is towards the music listener, our main concern is with the vinyl of any used item we sell. Additionally, please note that all of our records are graded visually; considering the volume of used vinyl we handle, it is impossible for us to listen to each record. If we spot any significant flaws, we make every attempt to listen through them and note how they play.

The following grading conditions apply to the vinyl component of an album or single:

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Pye, 1975. Near Mint-
Great stuff from this short-lived UK soul group – and a record that includes the monster title cut "Sad Sweet Dreamer". The record's filled with other great harmony soul tracks, and it's hard to believe it was recorded in the UK, because it sounds much more like an East Coast soul ... LP, Vinyl record album

Flying Dutchman, 1975. Very Good Gatefold
Lonnie Liston Smith is really tightening up his groove on this one – bringing a bit more funk into the mix, and creating that amazingly sweet glide in his keyboard sound! The record's still steeped in the righteous influences of years past, but it brings the message out to a bigger audience ... LP, Vinyl record album

Atlantic, 1989. Near Mint-
A Juice Crew classic, in spite of some less than stellar moments like "Turn This House Into A Home", though Craig G's so fierce on the mic on cuts like "Shootin' The Gift", that we can forgive him for the few tracks on this LP that don't quite live up to that standard.
