Astromusical Odyssey

LP (Item 26212) London, 1971 — Condition: Very Good
Gatefold
A fantastic album of spacey funky tracks! The great John Keating put this whole thing together in the years before he cut his more famous space soul albums for EMI – and the record's a wonderful mix of spacey orchestrations, spare electronics, and haunting voices – a wicked journey to the stars with a hip Brit Easy feel! There's a lot more funk here than you'd expect from other Phase 4 albums of this generation – and plenty of the cuts have weird instrumental bits that are just waiting for sampling. The whole thing's wonderful, and titles include "Round Trip Mars", "Aquarius", "Nocturne", "Across The Universe", "Up, Up, & Away", and "Spinning Wheel". Really fantastic!  © 1996-2025, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Phase 4 stereo pressing. Cover has some staining & waviness on the corners. Vinyl has a short click on "Theme From 2001".)

Very Good

  • Vinyl can have some dirt, but nothing major.
  • May not shine under light, but should still be pretty clean, and not too dirty.
  • May have a number of marks (5 to 10 at most), and obvious signs of play, but never a big cluster of them, or any major mark that would be very deep. Most marks should still not click under a fingernail.
  • May not look near perfect, but should play fairly well, with slight surface noise, and the occasional click in part of a song, but never throughout a whole song or more.
  • This is clearly a copy that was played by someone a number of times, but which could also be a good "play copy" for someone new.

Condition Notes

If something is relevant, we try to describe it in the notes — especially if it is release or pressing details, or an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

A fab set of James Bond tunes – performed by Brit easy maestro Roland Shaw, in a style that's arguably groovier than the original soundtracks themselves! LP, Vinyl record album

Stanley Black

Exotic Percussion
London, 1961. Near Mint- Gatefold
Both Phase 4 and Stanley Black have made their share of snoozy LPs, but this is not one of them! The label lists the talent as "Stanley Black with Women's Voices", and boy do those gals give his music a kick. Their spooky chorus haunts these exotic ditties, and ally Stanley's sound much ... Pretty darn nice later work from Martin Denny – a great batch of sexy tracks with stunning backings, and a really nice late 60s mellow piano groove! Project 3, 1974. Very Good+
Forget how much you don't like Enoch Light's snoozy early albums for Command, these Brass Menagerie LPs are very nice, very groovy, and have a good sound that's much livelier than Enoch's other LPs. This one includes goofy covers of "Shaft" and "Season Of The Witch", plus " ... LP, Vinyl record album

Another Taste Of Honey
Liberty, 1963. Very Good+
A sweet follow up to Martin Denny's Taste Of Honey album – one that's got a great blend of piano, vibes, and percussion – all used in a way that's almost more jazz-like than some of Denny's earlier work!
