A beautiful rootsy session of Afro-Cuban grooves! Justi Barreto's group has a distinct folkloric tone – and they were working years before the legendary Grupo Folklorico y Experimental, but with the same sound. The overall feel is very percussive, with bold trumpet solos over the top, and haunting ensemble vocals on many of the tracks. The drum dominates, though, and the album's a great one if you like heavy conga grooves!
