Ridin' High

LP (Item 25923) Gordy, 1968 — Condition: Near Mint-

After a few years a Motown's big crossover chart star, how could Martha not be Riding High? This album keeps the groove right on rolling, with a strident batch of girl soul tracks that includes a mixture of pop and Motown tunes – including "Forget Me Not", "Honey Chile", "I Promise To Wait My Love", "I'm In Love", and "Show Me The Way".  © 1996-2022, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Purple label stereo pressing with deep groove. Cover has a cut corner and minimal wear.)

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Temptations

Wings Of Love
Gordy, 1976. Near Mint-
After influencing countless groups of the 70s with their righteous funky soul of the late 60s, the Temps end up sounding kind of silly trying to hit a funk groove like the rest of the other 70s bands. This is the case on side one, where the group's getting some keyboards and funky horn ... LP, Vinyl record album

Rick James

Glow
Gordy, 1985. Sealed
Rick James hits a smoother sort of style here – one that's almost a compressed take on the mainstream version of funk first crafted on his earlier records, fused into a more radio-friendly approach for the Prince generation! Plenty of Impact from this great Philly group – a soaring quartet who harmonize with some great Bobby Eli arrangements – at a level that shines as strongly as the best 70s work by Blue Magic or The Spinners!
