"I See" from Medina Green, with a clean, almost deep house, piano line – a nice change from the extra-heavy feel of a lot of the late 90s underground hip hop – and, of course, conscious lyrics to match. Backed with more knowledge on "Best Part" from Self Scientific.  © 1996-2019, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Sealed

This is what it says, that the record is still held fast in shrink-wrap. We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time, we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape — which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played, the record will still qualify as "Sealed".

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Tommy Boy, 1983. Very Good
A latin B-Boy classic! Plus, the bonus beats on this 12" are the drums soloed up, then the bassline soloed up, and then the vocoder soloed up, great for mixing! 12-inch, Vinyl record

Tommy Boy, 1988. Near Mint-
Nice late-80's mid-tempo production, similar to Stezo. One of the many MC's who put out one or two dope 12"'s on Tommy Boy then, unfortunately, just disappeared. Mix cameo by Paul C. 12-inch, Vinyl record
Tommy Boy, 1988. Very Good-
Latifah's first single (back before she became Queen Latifah!). Released in the summer of 1988 around the same time as the first De La single, it still stands as one of the classics from Tommy Boy's glory days. Both tracks feature nice raw production by Mark The 45 King. 12-inch, Vinyl record
Tommy Boy, 1991. Very Good-
Ahh, this takes us way back to 1991 when this track ruled the airwaves as the hip hop anthem of the summer. Maybe hip hop's changed a lot since then, but we still don't mind hearing this one again, with that infectious Jackson 5 sample that never gets old to our ears, and neither does Naughty By ... 12-inch, Vinyl record

Fly Guy (voc, inst)
Tommy Boy, 1985. Sealed
"Fly Guy" is a good answer record to the Boogie Boy's "Fly Girl". Unlike the usual hip hop answer records, this one is not a dis, but instead using the same idea and music and reversing the genders. Definitely a reminder of an earlier era, what makes this one kinda nice is the ... 12-inch, Vinyl record
