❔

A monster set of Chicano funky grooves from LA – most of which forever transformed the sound of funk! The album includes most of the band's best cuts – like "Slippin Into Darkness", "Cisco Kid", "World Is A Ghetto", "All Day Music", "Me & Baby Brother", "Why Can't We Be Friends", and "Low Rider". Some tracks are in shorter 45 edits, but that only means you'll get more music in the long run!  © 1996-2021, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Still sealed with a cutout hole and hype sticker. Shrinkwrap has a fairly large hole at the bottom right, and cover has some wear where exposed.)

Sealed

This is what it says, that the record is still held fast in shrink-wrap. We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time, we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape — which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played, the record will still qualify as "Sealed".

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Mandrill

Solid
United Artists, 1975. Near Mint-
A tasty set from Mandrill – one of their first records away from the Polydor label, but every bit as great as later efforts for that company, especially Mandrilland. Earth Wind & Fire

Gratitude
Columbia, 1975. Very Good- 2LP Gatefold
Great stuff! Although a live album, Gratitude is one of Earth Wind & Fire's greatest from the mid 70s – a very tight batch of grooves that proves that Maurice White & Co. could play just as well on stage as they could in the studio – and the noise of the crowd going wild is ... Choice
Hilltak/Atlantic, 1979. Sealed
A free soul classic from the Dalton & Dubarri team – smooth and sweet soul with a nice slick finish, and a real talent for coming up with a catchy hook! Right On
Motown, 1970. Very Good-
Diana's gone, but you'd never know it – because the group sounds great!
