Journey To The Land Of Enchantment

LP (Item 2476) Roadshow, 1979 — Condition: Used
Out Of Stock

LP, Vinyl record album

Great grooves from Enchantment – a set that has the group very much in their dancefloor-oriented mode, but still singing with some incredibly warm harmonies throughout! The backings are a nice blend of late 70s disco elements and softer soul modes – just the right mix to let the group's nicely glowing quality come through strongly – that Enchantment style that was always a bit more subtle than some of the other late 70s soul groups, and which almost hearkened back at times to the earlier indie harmony scene of the start of the decade. Titles include "Love Melodies", "Oasis Of Love", "Journey", "Future Gonna Get You", "Magnetic Feel", "Anyway You Want It", and "Where Do We Go From Here".  © 1996-2017, Dusty Groove, Inc.

We realize that there are many different interpretations of the standard grades used for pre-owned vinyl record albums & CD, so we thought we'd offer you the ones that we are working with, so you have an idea what we mean when we give the grade for a non-new item on our pages.

Used Vinyl Grades

Below are stated conditions for a used vinyl records at Dusty Groove. Grading for the cover should be assumed to be near (within a "+" or "-") the grading for the vinyl. If there is significant divergence from the condition of the vinyl, or specific flaws, these will be noted in the comments section of the item. However, please be aware that since the emphasis of this site is towards the music listener, our main concern is with the vinyl of any used item we sell. Additionally, please note that all of our records are graded visually; considering the volume of used vinyl we handle, it is impossible for us to listen to each record. If we spot any significant flaws, we make every attempt to listen through them and note how they play.

The following grading conditions apply to the vinyl component of an album or single:

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

RCA, 1980. Very Good
The only RCA album from Enchantment – and a great little set that has the group stretching out from their earlier records on United Artists! The groove here is still awash in the great harmonies we've always loved from the group – and production is by Don Davis, who always has a great ... LP, Vinyl record album
Once Upon A Dream
Roadshow, 1977. Very Good
Soaring soul from Enchantment – one of the smoothest groups of their generation, and an outfit who could sound equally great on the dancefloor or for more laidback listening! The harmonies here are really great – stepping out strongly, and often breaking with an extra effort that ... LP, Vinyl record album
Doctor Boogie
Roadshow, 1979. Near Mint-
A killer classic from grooveman Don Downing – the kind of indie disco record that really broke big in the 70s – but which hardly ever got the longer-term fame it deserved! The grooves here are straight and simple – the best early east coast club modes of the mid 70s – more ... LP, Vinyl record album
Keem-O-Sabe
United Artists, Late 60s. Very Good+
A goofy mix of groovy instrumental tracks with a weird "Apache"-esque instrumentation made up of some nicely processed guitars. The album's sort of funky in parts, with arrangements by Vince Montana that were recorded at Sigma Sound – and which have a late 60s Philly soul vibe to ... LP, Vinyl record album
Bottom Of The Top
Playboy, 1973. Near Mint-
Funky blues with a heavy guitar sound, played by Phillip Walker, who played with a number of New Orleans and southern players in the 50's, then moved to LA in the 60's. The album's one of the few rare ones on the Playboy label, and it was recorded in LA with a smooth 70's feel. Titles include ... LP, Vinyl record album
Keni Burke
Dark Horse, 1977. Near Mint-
The first great solo album from Five Stairstep Keni Burke – really recreating himself as a completely different sort of artist – one who's all grown up, and able to work in this jazzy approach to modern soul that's completely great all the way through! Keni produced the record himself ... LP, Vinyl record album
Freeze
Westbound, 1975. Very Good+
Freeze is a wonderful set from Junie – a record that has all the offbeat funk he was crafting with the Ohio Players during their Westbound years – and the same sort of heady sound that would make Morrison a perfect match with the P-Funk empire! The record contains the legendary track ... LP, Vinyl record album

Elektra, 1980. Near Mint-
Trussel may have cut this one and only album at the end of the 70s – but they've got a strength that's kept them going for years – despite a lack of success at the time! The record's a sweet modern soul stunner – a record that picks up a sweet jazzy groove that's augmented with ... LP, Vinyl record album
Lonely One
Mainstream, 1976. Very Good
A heartbreaking classic from Terry Huff and his Special Delivery group – a hip 70s harmony soul ensemble who deliver some wonderful backup on the set! The record's a stone east coast classic from way back – arranged and conducted by Al Johnson, with a vibe that's a slightly more ... LP, Vinyl record album
1980
Roadshow/Columbia, 1980. Very Good+
One of the greatest albums ever from BT Express – tighter, smoother, and classier than the group's early funky disco sessions – and with a cosmic sound that shows them really growing at the time! The sound here steps off from both the group's own horn-heavy disco sides of the 70s, and ... LP, Vinyl record album
Paint It Black
Cadet, 1966. Very Good-
One of the better albums by this great Chicago soul studio group – but all of them are pretty nice! The great Richard Evans is still at the head of The Strings, and the album features solo work by Charles Stepney and Lennie Druss, in a cool breezy Chess/Cadet soul jazz kind of mode. The ... A landmark album that hardly needs any introduction – as it's one of the most famous soundtracks, if not soul records, of the 70s!
