TV's Greatest Detective Hits

LP (Item 2438) Mercury, 1976 — Condition: Very Good+

Excellent work from Brit easy bandleader John Gregory – an assortment of 70s police and crime themes, played by a big band with a nice soundtrack-y finish! Nearly all the tunes are uptempo, and the feel of the record is very much in the same vein as Henry Mancini's Cop Show Themes album – although perhaps with a bit less electronics. Titles include "Theme From SWAT", "Harry O", "Streets Of San Francisco", "Cannon", "Rockford Files", "Kojak", "McCloud", "Police Woman", and "Six-Million Dollar Man".  © 1996-2019, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Fantastic piano work from the very groovy Horst Jankowski – an artist who's really stepping into his own with this sweet mid 60s album! A fantastic album from the great Horst Jankowski – and a set that really points the way towards some of his groovy records to come for the MPS label! Genius Of Jankowski
Mercury, 1964. Near Mint-
The genius of Jankowski here is in the way that Horst manages to create this sweet little groove every time he hits the keys of the piano – often syncopating the rhythms a bit in the background, which kicks up the lead instrument nicely – in ways that are quite different than the usual ...
