Heartbeat (club version, party version)

12-inch (Item 24205) West End, 1981 — Condition: Very Good+
Out Of Stock

12-inch, Vinyl record

✈
An undisputed classic! The funky grooves of this early 80s single by Taana make it our favorite by her – and it's a non-stop killer that's served up here in a 9 and 6 minute version. Used as the sample for "Buddy" by De La Soul, and for a whole bunch of other tracks too!  © 1996-2025, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(In a West End sleeve. Label on party version has some wrinkles.)

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Condition Notes

If something is relevant, we try to describe it in the notes — especially if it is release or pressing details, or an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Classic! Although folks had been saying for years that Prince was funky, "Kiss" was the first tune to really have him going to town on the instruments – in a way that we always expect from a true funk act, but not so much for the pop charts – reason alone to adore this one! ... 12-inch, Vinyl record

A killer Norman Harris/Philly club classic, issued here on the original 12" single! 12-inch, Vinyl record

A real comeback, although brief, for Eddie "Hey There Lonely Girl" Holman. Eddie's earlier cracking falsetto soul style is layered out over strong Philly grooves by Ron Baker, pumping it up in the best Sigma mode, showing that the scene still had great respect for a strong soul singer ... 12-inch, Vinyl record

It Takes Two (voc, inst)
Profile, 1987. Very Good+
One of the first hip hop singles that really made the crossover to dancefloor play. By this point, everyone's heard the sample three million times, but it's still holds up better than most of the uptempo cuts from that era. 12-inch, Vinyl record
Sugar Hill, 1979. Very Good+
An essential piece of hip hop history – served up here in the super-long version, and a shorter edit! 12-inch, Vinyl record
