Freedom (voc, inst)

12-inch (Item 2386) Sugar Hill, 1980 — Condition: Very Good+
(In a Sugar Hill sleeve, with light wear, a cutout hole, and a few small drip stains.)

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Sugar Hill, 1980. Near Mint-
A lively little groover from the Sugarhill Gang – one based around the excellent "Daisy Lady" sample from 7th Wonder! The track makes great use of the original's brassy horns – inflecting a bright, almost Latiny finish on the tune – all to set the stage for some great ... 12-inch, Vinyl record

Grandmaster Melle Mel & The Furious Five

Beat Street (voc)/Internationally Known (part 1 & 2)
Sugar Hill, 1984. Very Good+ (pic cover)
The title song from one of the early hip hop movie classics! The track's an ode to the film's slain graffitti writer Raheim, and one of the last dope Melle Mel/Furious Five tracks. 12-inch, Vinyl record
Bad Boy, 2005. Near Mint-
Featuring Twista, Bone Thugs N Harmony, and 8ball & MJG on the remix. 12-inch, Vinyl record
Importe/12, 1982. Very Good+
A classic electro groove – and one of the tracks that's a contender for the origin of the word "hip hop"! A very nice groove with an early Arthur Baker feel, and the kind of cut that we slept on during the 80s, but which sounds totally great today! 3 different edits. 12-inch, Vinyl record
