✈
❔
Features 3LPs worth of Temptations classics, with tracks recorded between 1964 and 1972. The album follows the group right up to their move to ABC, and includes classics like "Cloud Nine", "Just My Imagination", "Papa Was A Rolling Stone", "Ain't Too Proud To Beg", "My Girl", and lots of other great lesser-known material!  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(NOTE – Cover has stains at the right side, with a stuck panel, and large peeled patches from separation inside the gatefold. Includes the booklet and printed inner sleeves, with some waviness.)

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Temptations

Sky's The Limit
Gordy, 1971. Very Good+
Sublime work from the Temptations – still recording here with Norman Whitfield, who's really opening up his bag on most of the record – and taking the group into expansive territory that was barely hinted at in their early work! The album's got some incredible tracks in the Whitfield ... LP, Vinyl record album

All Directions
Gordy, 1972. Near Mint-

Psychedelic Shack
Gordy, 1970. Near Mint-

Gordy, 1967. Very Good+
The Temptations in a mellow mood, but one that's still plenty darn swinging – thanks to some jazzy arrangements from HB Barnum, Oliver Nelson, and Don Costa! Eddie Kendricks

Slick
Tamla/Motown, 1977. Very Good
Smooth mellow grooves, in the style that Eddie pioneered, and which he still did better than most. The album's a great batch of tracks with production by Leonard Caston, who also produced some of Eddie's earlier works, and the set's pretty darn great all the way through. With the cuts "Someth ... Motown, 1964. Near Mint-
It's only 1964, early in Motown's history, but Mary's managed to rack up a considerable batch of hits – no surprise since she was one of the label's best female singers of the early years! This set features 12 classics by Mary – including "You Beat Me To The Punch", "My ... LP, Vinyl record album

Motown, 1983. Very Good+
One of the strangest acts to come from Motown in the early 80s – and almost more of a new wave record than a soul one! The standout hit here is the title track "Somebody's Watching Me" – an odd electro tune that has Rockwell speaking/singing these paranoid lyrics with a vague ... LP, Vinyl record album
Motown, 1970. Very Good
One of the last albums the Four Tops ever issued on Motown – but also one of the best, and a set that really has the group taking off in a strong new direction for the 70s!
