Electric Love

LP (Item 2280) Limelight, 1969 — Condition: Very Good+
A great version of moogy pop from the moog pop era of the late 60s – served up with a slightly sexy vibe, as you might guess from the title and the cover! The set's got a great electronic take on the Serge Gainsbourg classic "Je T'aime Moi Non Plus", plus versions of "Stella By Starlight", "Goin Out Of My Head", "The Look Of Love", "Like A Lover", and "This Guy's In Love With You". A nice groove, and slightly funky in a very groovy way!  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

David Rose (with David Axelrod)

Something Fresh
Capitol, Late 60s. Near Mint-
A rare moment in the David Axelrod years at Capitol Records – a set that has the Axe producing sounds by older maestro David Rose! Rose is a lot groovier in the setting – as you might expect – and all the instrumental tunes are new compositions for the record. Tracks include ... LP, Vinyl record album

Acapulco 22
Tower, Late 60s. Sealed
Excellent work from guitarist Laurindo Almeida – a truly wonderful album, played with small combo backing, which gives the set a jazzier feel than usual! Marty Gold

Skin Tight
RCA, 1960. Very Good+
Pretty skin tight stuff – as Marty and crew play more bongos than you'd ever hear in a beatnik hoedown! The set's a very percussive one, and is one of Gold's better outings on RCA – thanks to the tightly stretched skins of the bongo. Gold arranged all tunes, and some of them are bongo- ... This is the kind of moog album we can get behind – a sweet 70s update of the moogy groovy that Hugo Montenegro first started crafting in the 60s! The album's got both moog and Arp – the latter of which brings in more of a 70s electric vibe – and there's also some very cool sound ... LP, Vinyl record album

Martin Denny

Exotica
Liberty, 1957. Very Good+
The birth of a sound and the birth of a legend – Martin Denny's first album in the Exotica series, and a record so great it named an entire genre! Denny certainly didn't invent the tropical style of easy listening that came to be known as "exotica" in the 50s – but with a ... LP, Vinyl record album

An incredible album – a landmark piece of funk that nobody should be without, funk fan or not! A great little album that's as compelling as its title!
