Return Of We Five

LP (Item 22201) A&M, Late 60s — Condition: Very Good

Completely charming sounds from We Five – a second full length set for A&M Records, and one that really has the group growing past their simple folksy roots! There's a wonderful interplay of voices going on here – styles borrowed a bit from male/female jazz and soul vocal groups of the period, yet given a deeper 60s inflection too – a dose of righteous energy that's got the darkness of folk, but moving into some sunshine pop modes too – and which shows especial maturation on some of the album's mellower cuts. Production is right in the best A&M modes of the time – again moving past pop towards some darker corners of the music – and titles include "Walk", "It Really Doesn't Matter", "Walk On By", "I Can't Believe", and "All The Time".  © 1996-2019, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Cover has light wear.)

Very Good

  • Vinyl can have some dirt, but nothing major.
  • May not shine under light, but should still be pretty clean, and not too dirty.
  • May have a number of marks (5 to 10 at most), and obvious signs of play, but never a big cluster of them, or any major mark that would be very deep. Most marks should still not click under a fingernail.
  • May not look near perfect, but should play fairly well, with slight surface noise, and the occasional click in part of a song, but never throughout a whole song or more.
  • This is clearly a copy that was played by someone a number of times, but which could also be a good "play copy" for someone new.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

A mid 70s effort from Vancouver combo Chilliwack – scaling back some of the freewheeling, acoustic & electric rock experimentalism of earlier LPs and focusing on the gritty rock grooves – and do it quite well! A very nice spacey album of stoner electronics!
