Dimension M

LP (Item 22177) Columbia (France), Early 70s — Condition: Near Mint-
Also available
Franck Dervieux — Dimension M ... LP 18.99

Franck Dervieux takes off to Dimension M in this very cool set of prog tracks from the Montreal scene of the 70s – music that's heavy on Franck's own work on piano, organ, and electric piano – driven onwards by a tight little combo, and topped with some occasional wordless vocals from Christiane Robichaud – a singer whose approach fits right in with the group like another instrument in the mix! The tunes are a mix of jazz and rock, very much in the spirit of some of the hipper French work of this nature from the time – and the approach is more freewheeling and fluid than some of Franck's other records from the period. Titles include "Present Du Futur", "Orejona Mater", "Dimension M", "Atlantide", and "Hyperboree Civilisation Un".  © 1996-2020, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Recent reissue on Return To Analogue.)

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Of Cabbages & Kings
Columbia, 1967. Very Good
A dream of a record from Chad & Jeremy – a fantastic bit of psychedelic pop produced by Gary Usher! The album's got quite a different feel than the rest of the duo's work – as their standard Brit pop style is augmented by lots of extra strings and woodwinds, super-baroque in a ... Cheap Thrills, maybe – but they cut deeply and last forever! Mother Lode
Columbia, 1974. Near Mint-
Mother Lode has a somewhat more fuller sound overall – one that's got bits of the western touches you might expect from the prospecting reference in the title – tunes that almost have a Deadwood way of echoing the past, but which come across with a much more 70s LA vibe overall. Prime classic Springsteen double album, circa 1980!
