Voices & Brass

LP (Item 21622) Capitol, Late 50s — Condition: Very Good+

One of the greatest records ever by this amazing vocal combo! The album's got crack arrangements by Pete Rugolo, with the kind of off-kilter sound that he brought to his best work with June Christy and to his own records on Mercury. The Freshman, as always, are in perfect form – and prove that they were the undisputed masters of jazzy harmony style – especially on cuts like "Stella By Starlight", "I'm Glad There Is You", "Laura", and "Never Again".  © 1996-2021, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Rainbow label mono pressing. Cover has a split spine and top seam.)

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Only The Lonely
Capitol, 1958. Very Good+

Nancy Wilson

Like In Love
Capitol, Mid 60s. Very Good
A nice early one by Nancy, and a record that shows her roots as a jazz singer, by pairing her lovely voice with swinging arrangements by Billy May. Nancy Wilson

Touch Of Today
Capitol, Late 60s. Very Good
Nancy's in groovy late 60s pop territory here – with swinging arrangements by Oliver Nelson, and some more mellow backings by Sid Feller.
