A great lost album of 80s soul, and one of the best side projects that Prince ever worked on! This was the only record from the Family, a group that consisted of former members of The Time – and it's very much in the Prince mode of the mid 80s, but also with a voice that's a bit different, perhaps more conventionally soulful. They manage to hit both of the best sides of the Paisley Park sound – and the record's got some nice funk numbers – "Screams Of Passion" and "High Fashion" – plus some nice mellow cuts, including the original recording of "Nothing Compares 2 U" (done to greater fame later by Sinead O'Connor.) © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.
