Friction (voc, inst, spoken word)/TheTerrorist (voc, inst, spoken word)

12-inch (Item 21069) Ninja Tune, 1999 — Condition: Very Good+
(pic cover)
Out Of Stock

12-inch, Vinyl record

Two completely different, and dope, tracks from Vadim. "Friction", featuring Iriscience, starts out with a slow spoken word definition of the word 'friction' done up in a style similar to the intros to the old Parliament records. Then the beat kicks in and the tempo speeds up. Iriscience's style has a touch of that easy-flowing Jurassic 5 delivery (who he mentions in the verses). "The Terrorist" also starts out with a spoken intro – a demented horror film narration over silent film-era organ. The production is a hard simple beat with nothing but a great retro-futurist distorted keyboard line, and an almost sing-song double-time delivery from Moshun Man – menacing, but never taking itself too seriously.  © 1996-2020, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

An incredible anthem of power from Loleatta Holloway – and one of the greatest tunes ever recorded for Salsoul! The original Shep Pettibone mix of the track is sublime – starting slow with piano notes that ring out strongly over the beats – building in a house-like style before ... 12-inch, Vinyl record
