Norma Canta Mulheres

LP (Item 203722) Elenco (Brazil), 1977 — Condition: Very Good
Obscure later work from Norma Benguell, better known for her classic 60s album on Odeon – a set that's late in the Elenco label, and which features guest work from Sivuca, Rosinha De Valenca, Celia Vaz, and others!  © 1996-2025, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Very Good

  • Vinyl can have some dirt, but nothing major.
  • May not shine under light, but should still be pretty clean, and not too dirty.
  • May have a number of marks (5 to 10 at most), and obvious signs of play, but never a big cluster of them, or any major mark that would be very deep. Most marks should still not click under a fingernail.
  • May not look near perfect, but should play fairly well, with slight surface noise, and the occasional click in part of a song, but never throughout a whole song or more.
  • This is clearly a copy that was played by someone a number of times, but which could also be a good "play copy" for someone new.

Condition Notes

If something is relevant, we try to describe it in the notes — especially if it is release or pressing details, or an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Elenco (Brazil), Mid 60s. Very Good
A excellent set of instrumental bossa nova tunes by Roberto Menescal – one of Brazil's true musical geniuses of the 60s! The arrangements are bossa, but much more off-kilter than usual, with a weird edge, and groovy instrumentation, like vibes, that are not that common on Brazilian material ... LP, Vinyl record album
Elenco (Brazil), 1965. Very Good
A beautiful album of mellow bossa tracks sung by Sylvia Telles – all written by Jobim, of course, and given a lovely and melodic touch! Sylvia's vocals are incredible – often in English on some of the tracks (the album was briefly issued in the US in the 60s), and done in a style that's ... LP, Vinyl record album

Astrud Gilberto

Shadow Of Your Smile
Verve, 1965. Very Good
One of Astrud Gilberto's greatest albums – and quite possibly our personal favorite! The record features beautifully understated arrangements by Joao Donato, Don Sebesky, and Claus Ogerman – and the instrumentation is a haunting mix of bossa rhythms with darker orchestrations that ... Fontana (Brazil), Early 70s. Near Mint-
Although this one seems to be a "best of" collection of tracks by Joao Gilberto – it's actually mostly a repackaged version of his stellar Joao Gilberto album for Polydor from the early 70s! If you don't know that one, it's amazing – and it features Joao singing with only ... LP, Vinyl record album
Estudio Eldorado (Brazil), 1983. Sealed
Raul Seixas follows a similar path as Rita Lee, Caetano Veloso, and other important Brazilian artists of the 70s – and uses this live date to really pay tribute to the American music of the past that inspired his crazier work at the time – taking older songs of the 50s and 60s, but ... Som Livre (Brazil), 1975. Very Good-
One of the stranger titles in this series of rare Brazilian soundtracks – a record that mixes together older styles of jazz and popular music to fit the themes and time of the story. King, 1968. Good
A great tribute from James Brown to Little Willie John – a huge influence on the vocal style of The Godfather himself!
