Very Good - (minus)
Vinyl may be dirty, and can lack a fair amount of luster.
Vinyl can have a number of marks, either in clusters or smaller amounts, but deeper.
This is the kind of record that you'd buy to play,
but not because it looked that great. Still, the flaws should be mostly cosmetic,
with nothing too deep that would ruin the overall record.
Examples include a record that has been kept for a while in a
cover without the paper sleeve, or heavily played by a previous owner
and has some marks across the surface. The record should play okay,
though probably with surface noise.
Condition Notes
If something is relevant, we try to describe it in the notes — especially
if it is release or pressing details,
or an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record.
This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip,
cover damage or wear, or strictly cosmetic flaws.
A nice local Chicago blues single, cut for the lost Airway label by the great Sunnyland Slim. Very raw sound, with a hard southside blues feel. 7-inch, Vinyl record
Two uptempo sides by this ex-singer of The Charimen Of The Board. David Van De Pitte arranged, and the record's got a bit of a modern soul sound – which suits the General's unique voice just right! 7-inch, Vinyl record
A kicking bit of funky blues from Chicago – a track that's got this slinky vamping groove that's topped with horns, laced with guitar, and moves into a sweet groove on part 2 that's maybe even better than part 1! That flipside has lots of great guitar work – although we're not sure who' ... 7-inch, Vinyl record
Great stuff from one of the 70s' best vocal groups! "Seems Like" is stone mellow east coast harmony soul, with a sweet ballad style. "Town Called Nowhere" is even better, and has a nice choppy guitar, and a good midtempo groove. Very nice! 7-inch, Vinyl record
Two obscure numbers by this great Chicago harmony group. "Hey Sister Lizzie" is a jumper – rolling along at uptempo pace – and "You Painted Pictures" is a sweet little ballad, done with a slow harmony style, one that actually features the band saying the words " ... 7-inch, Vinyl record
A nice little lost instrumental single with a good surfy feel! "Penetration" has some brilliant washes of guitar, with a heavy full-on sound, and nice riptide effects up and down the fretboard. The flipside, "Here Comes Marsha", is even better – and is kind of a mellow ... 7-inch, Vinyl record
