Taste Of Cano

LP (Item 20049) GNP/Crescendo, Late 50s — Condition: Very Good-

Excellent stuff! Although Eddie Cano cut a lot of pop-Latin piano records, this hard jazzy groover is a firey bunch of instrumentals that stands as one of his best records ever! The set's got a tight west coast group that includes a tight trumpet frontline, plus timbales, bass, and congas – all supporting Eddie's lively piano. The album's got a few nice originals from Eddie – like "Ican", "Baila Pachanga", and "Pancero Mambero" – plus great jazzy numbers like "Tin Tin Deo", "Nightingale", and "Line For Lyons". Truly one of Eddie's best, and a hard one to find!  © 1996-2021, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Mono red label pressing with deep groove. Cover has creases on the glossy finish, a small split on the bottom seam, and some aging.)

Very Good - (minus)

  • Vinyl may be dirty, and can lack a fair amount of luster.
  • Vinyl can have a number of marks, either in clusters or smaller amounts, but deeper.
  • This is the kind of record that you'd buy to play, but not because it looked that great. Still, the flaws should be mostly cosmetic, with nothing too deep that would ruin the overall record.
  • Examples include a record that has been kept for a while in a cover without the paper sleeve, or heavily played by a previous owner and has some marks across the surface. The record should play okay, though probably with surface noise.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Cinco
MCA, 1974. Near Mint-
The group's fifth album – in case you couldn't guess by the title – and a still-strong batch of west coast Latin grooves! Mostly a set of mellower, romantic-styled tunes overall, but there are some nice baroque touches in the arrangements that deepen the sound somewhat – almost European-inspired at times, and which sound especially nice next to the strong lead vocals on the tracks. Not as tripped-out or ... LP, Vinyl record album

Houston Person

Truth!
Prestige, 1970. Very Good+
One of Houston Person's first forays into the jazz funk sound that other Prestige Records players were picking up at the time – a sweet little set with some nicely extended tunes!
