Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We only use the grade "Used CD" for non-new CDs. This all-encompassing grade was chosen it because we only buy and offer used CDs in the best possible condition.

When you purchase a used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use, but if there are significant details or defects we will describe the item's condition (just like we do with LPs), so look for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details before ordering.

All of our used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. After you receive a used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly. If it does not, you can request a return for a full refund.

The MJQ always manage to sound especially great when working on music for film – and this album's a great illustration of that fact! The work here is written by John Lewis, for a movie that never lasted the test of time as much as the record – and it's some of John's most evocative ... CD

George Wallington

Knight Music
Atlantic (Japan), 1956. Used
Great work from bop legend George Wallington – one of the last records in an initial run of 50s strengths from the pianist – and a set that features some great original compositions of his own! The set's a bit unusual for Atlantic Records at the time – almost more of a Prestige ... CD

2 classic Atlantic sessions by Roland Kirk! The wonderful Volunteered Slavery is our favorite Roland Kirk album, and a beautiful mix of two different styles. Side one's got Roland doing these crazy takes on late 60's pop cuts like "My Cherie Amour" and "Say a Little Prayer", ... CD

Duke Pearson

Prairie Dog
Koch/Atlantic, 1966. Used
Dark genius from Duke Pearson – quite possibly one of his hippest records ever, and an album that's filled with surprising twists and turns! At one level, the set seems to be a simple batch of soul jazz tunes – in the mode of Pearson's mid-60s classics on Blue Note – but at ... CD

Lee Konitz

Real Lee Konitz
Atlantic/32 Jazz, 1957. Used
The title definitely gets it right – as this is the real sound of Lee Konitz – the kind of extra-special approach to alto sax that made Lee one of the true modern giants of the 50s, with an approach that nobody had ever heard before! The album captures Konitz at the height of his ... CD

Modern Jazz Quartet

Lonely Woman
Atlantic, 1962. Used
Truly one of the Modern Jazz Quartet's greatest albums – and a set that has an edge and a darkness that's missing from some of their other Atlantic records! Part of the reason for this may be the group's fantastic reading of Ornette Coleman's "Lonely Woman" – a killer moody ... CD

George Adams/Don Pullen Quartet

Live At Montmartre
Timeless/Ultra Vybe (Japan), 1985. Used
Solidly soaring work from tenorist George Adams – recording live here with pianist Don Pullen, one of his best musical partners during the 80s! The album's got a bit more of a bite than some of the pair's studio sessions – a bit straighter overall, but recorded with a nice degree of ... CD
