Love & Mercy – The Live Love & Genius Of Brian Wilson

LP (Item 199271) Capitol, Late 1960s/2015 — Condition: Near Mint-
Gatefold
Includes original instrumental tracks for the film by Atticus Ross – plus Beach Boys numbers "Good Vibrations", "Don't Worry Baby", and "God Only Knows" – as well as Paul Dano singing a haunting demo version of "God Only Knows", Brian Wilson singing "Love & Mercy" and "One Kind Of Love", and a strange melange of Beach Boys, Four Freshmen, and original Ross music on "The Bed Montage".  © 1996-2025, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(US RSD pressing on blue/white marbled vinyl.)

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Hell's Angels '69
Capitol, 1969. Sealed Gatefold
An excellent biker soundtrack – very different than the usual bag! For this one, Tony Bruno has come up with some great instrumentals – many of them jazzier than you'd think, and a few with some nice funky Capitol instrumental touches – not so much studio fuzz guitar, as they are ... An excellent funky rock soundtrack – penned by the team of Jon Lord and Tony Ashton for this groovy Joe Namath film! (Whatever happened to Joe Namath as a movie star? We loved those movies!) Prudence & The Pill
20th Century, 1968. Sealed
A strange little film from the late 60s – a brit comedy starring Deborah Kerr and David Niven, in kind of a tender and silly comedy about the early years of birth control. About half the soundtrack's kind of orchestral and romantic (surprisingly), but the other half is nice and groovy – ... LP, Vinyl record album

A great little Morricone soundtrack – later than most of the classic work, but done for a French thriller that starred Jean-Paul Belmondo, with some great spare compositions that have slight romantic French soundtrack touches! One of the hippest Italian soundtracks of the 60s – and a motherlode of tracks by the great Piero Piccioni! A wonderful soundtrack from the great Quincy Jones – one that's maybe not as well-known as his albums for Mercury at the time, but which is maybe even groovier!
