Street Music

LP (Item 199152) Regency, 1982 — Condition: Sealed
(Still sealed with sticker remnants.)

Sealed

This is what it says, that the record is still held fast in shrink-wrap. We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time, we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape — which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played, the record will still qualify as "Sealed".

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Arrows/Sidewalk Sounds

Wild Racers
Sidewalk, 1968. Very Good+
Instrumental grooves all the way – and one of the best of the Tower/Sidewalk soundtracks of the late 60s! The Arrows handle only two of the album's songs – and the real gems here come from The Sidewalk Sounds, who sound a lot hipper than usual! Given that this one is more of a race ... Project 3, 1968. Very Good+ Gatefold
The hard-to-find soundtrack for the first Planet Of The Apes film! The record has a nice mix of dramatic orchestral scoring with some other tracks that have a cool jingly jangly noisy sound. Jerry Goldsmith did some great work for this one, and the album has a cool gatefold cover with images from ... LP, Vinyl record album
Epic, Late 60s. Very Good+
A wonderful soundtrack – written for a groovy surf film! The movie's one of many in the subgenre of "surf films in exotic locales" – and it features some wonderful music by Harry Betts! The tunes are a mixture of small combo grooving and larger groovy LA late 60s ... LP, Vinyl record album

Fred Karlin

Up The Down Staircase
United Artists, 1967. Very Good+
Here's a groovy one – the swinging mod soundtrack to Up The Down Staircase, a cool late 60s JD film that starred the lovely Sandy Dennis! Riz Ortolani

Africa Addio
United Artists, 1967. Sealed
A beautiful little soundtrack from the great Riz Ortolani – maybe not as striking as you'd expect from the cover, but a record that's filled with all sorts of wonderfully-penned moments! Ortolani is at his most sensitive here – not going for the kind of heavy-handed representation that ... LP, Vinyl record album

Riz Ortolani did the soundtrack for this groovy film about 3 Americans (Peter Lawford, Telly Savalas, and Phil Silvers) returning to Italy after the war in a reunion with the woman who is the mother of a child that belongs to one of them. What can we say? Bootsy's on top of the world here – not only The Player Of The Year, but also the most soulful artist in the P-Funk stable, and a master of the smooth, sly, slinky groove that would forever be taken up by bands from LA – both in the immediate soul years and in later ... Curtis Mayfield

Curtis
Curtom, 1970. Near Mint- Gatefold
A mindblowing solo set from Curtis Mayfield – a record that not only foregrounds all the subtle politics he'd been forging in the Impressions during the 60s – but one that also really has Mayfield exploding as a force to be reckoned with in the studio! The album's a personal ... LP, Vinyl record album
