Pass The Peas/Hot Pants Road

7-inch (Item 19828) People, 1972 — Condition: Near Mint-
Out Of Stock

7-inch, Vinyl record

✈

What more can we say? Beautiful funky classics, back to back, on an original People label single! "Hot Pants Road" is a killer cut, with a non-stop groove, and "Pass The Peas" was once in the running for the eighties most-sampled cut!  © 1996-2020, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Purple label pressing.)

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

People, 1972. Near Mint-
An excellent hard-to-find track by Lyn Collins! "Me & My Baby" has a wonderful gospelly intro, similar to "Message to the Soul Sisters", which then leaps into a great groove with a nice hard soul hook! The flip has sort of a nice Muscle Shoals-ish sound, with some good ... 7-inch, Vinyl record
Marquee, Mid 60s. Very Good
Nice one! "Here Comes Da Judge" takes the famous comedic vocal refrain, and creates a nice rollicking funky number with some great rolling piano chords that kick off right as the song begins! "Big Red" is more of a heavy sax workout, but both tracks swing real nice nice nice. 7-inch, Vinyl record
King, Early 60s. Very Good-
This is Hank's first version of the track, not the one produced by James Brown. That doesn't stop it from being nice and soulful, though – with a great rolling R&B groove that made it one of his best early moments! Killer vocals on both sides, too! 7-inch, Vinyl record

Les Structures Sonores
Disques Bam/Cacophonic (France), Mid 50s. Near Mint- (pic cover)
Incredible sounds from the postwar avant scene in France – a small record, but one that's had huge impact over the years! This 3 track EP features compositions based around the "structures sonores" of Jacques Lasry and Bernard Baschet – both of whom create and play these ... 7-inch, Vinyl record

Heavy funk from the great Yvonne Fair! "Funky Music" is a tight little groover – bass and guitar dancing on the intro, riffing around hard and heavy, before horns and thumping drums come in with Yvonne's bad-ass vocals! "Let Your Hair Down" has some fake crowd noises at ... 7-inch, Vinyl record

Gerald McCauley with Cold Diamond & Mink

Wondering (voc, inst)
Timmion (Finland), 2019. Near Mint-
The sweet soul vocals of Gerald McCauley sound wonderful here – delivered with this slow, heartbreaking pace that really fits the mellow funk laid down by Cold Diamond & Mink – almost making the whole thing feel like a classic New Jersey/Philly gem from back in the day! 7-inch, Vinyl record

Willie West & The Soul Investigators

I Just Can't Leave You Alone (vocal, inst)
Timmion (Finland), 2018. Near Mint-
Massive drums really get this one going – a hard, heavy, almost-classic drum break that begins the tune – and sounds great next to the more easygoing vocals of Willie West – as he brings a great deep soul touch to the tune, alongside this floating flute played by Jimi Tenor! ... 7-inch, Vinyl record
