Latin Affair Part 2 – The Next Experience Through 70s Latin Vibes

LP (Item 197108) Follow Me (France), Late 1960s/Early 1970s — Condition: Very Good+
A really great set of Latin tracks – all hard-hitting, with a keen bent on the dancefloor! This volume far surpasses the first one in the set, and it features a really great blend of tunes that includes a few old favorites, and some rare gems that we'd be hard pressed to find elsewhere. The vibe is strong all the way – of the sort that you'd hear at some cool little DJ set in a hip London club. Titles include "Down San Diego Way" by Arthur Blythe, "Hit De Bongo" by Tito Puente, "La Descarga Del Bobo" by Willie Bobo, "I Like It Like That" by Pete Rodriguez, "Taste Of Honey Boogaloo" by Fajardo, "Shing A Ling Baby (alternate)" by Willie Bobo, and "Para Ti" by Machito. And even though you may know the names of the artists, the grooves are some of their best cuts – a well-chosen selection with a very fresh sound!  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Cover has some light wear.)

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Cotique, 1968. Very Good+
Ahhhhh . . . The wonderful sounds of Joey Pastrana – the hip Latin Soul bandleader who was known to the kids as "Hot" Pastrana! El Gran Combo

Latin Power
Gema, 1968. Good
Latin Power is Latin Soul – and the album is one of El Gran Combo's best from the boogaloo era! The tunes are heavy on English language lyrics, and include a few great remakes of Anglo pop and soul tunes – all given a Latin Soul spin with plenty of heavy rhythms on the bottom, fierce ... Analog Africa (Germany), Early 1970s. Sealed Gatefold
Stunning sounds from the early 70s Peruvian scene – a really unique take on the cumbia mode of the time, and one that's topped with plenty of psychedelic touches as well! In truth, the rhythms here are often as Cuban as they are Colombian – a really great hybrid of both, used alongside ... LP, Vinyl record album

An excellent album of Latin material from Herbie Mann – and proof that he's equally great in just about any setting!
