John Coltrane : My Favorite Things (180 gram 2LP edition – mono/stereo mixes) (LP, Vinyl record album) -- Dusty Groove is Chicago's Online Record Store
This image is a general representation of the item and the actual product may differ slightly in terms of color shading, logo placement, borders, or other small details. Used items may have various cosmetic differences as well.
Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so.
These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play,
but might detract from the looks.
May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be
intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under
the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record.
(Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
Possible minor surface noise when played.
Additional Marks & Notes
If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially
if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record.
This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip,
cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.
John Coltrane's classic – and only – recording as a leader for Blue Note! The album's no throwaway date, though – as it stands strongly with both Coltrane's other label work of the time, and with the best of the late 50s Blue Note scene – a time when the label was really ... LP, Vinyl record album
There's not much in the way of notes on the cover, but the album feels like prime early 60s work from the Coltrane quartet – long tracks with bold solos – and titles that include "Cousin Mary", "Body & Soul", "Interpretations", and "March 2nd On ... LP, Vinyl record album
A great complement to the classic Atlantic albums by Coltrane – material recorded during the same stretch, but never issued at the time! The 1970 set features some undiscovered gems recorded with groups that include Milt Jackson, Hank Jones, Eric Dolphy, Freddie Hubbard, and McCoy Tyner ... LP, Vinyl record album
Not to be confused with the single LP Bahia, this 2LP set features tracks from that one – plus titles from Stardust, and the full album Cattin With Coltrane & Quinichette. The first LP features tracks with Trane blowing with the Red Garland Trio, plus one additional tune with the same ... LP, Vinyl record album
Double LP set that brings together two Coltrane sides for Prestige from the late 50's – Black Pearls and The Believer. Both LPs are nice easy blowing hard bop albums that feature Coltrane in a relaxed setting that lets him open up and get very exploratory in his solos. Donald Byrd's playing ... LP, Vinyl record album
John Coltrane returns to the Village Vanguard – but his sound here is a lot more far-reaching than a few years before! The album's a great counterpart to the first Vanguard session – as it takes all of the bold, soaring energy of that date, and balances it with the newly introspective ... LP, Vinyl record album
70's issue of alternate takes from some of Trane's best Atlantic sessions, including the one that went on to be the Giant Steps album. The alternates feature different versions of some of Coltrane's most familiar numbers for Atlantic, including "Naima", "Cousin Mary", "Gian ... LP, Vinyl record album
Soaring and soulful work from the legendary John Coltrane – a tremendous live set that's one of his best early 60s albums! The groove is open and free – filled with pulsating modal rhythms, and handled with a slightly more relaxed feeling than some of Trane's studio work from the same ... LP, Vinyl record album
A perennial favorite in the John Coltrane catalog – a beautiful set of standards, handled in a warm laidback style – but which still has some of the depth of soul that John Coltrane brought to his more experimental work on Impulse Records! The album's a classic introduction to the ... LP, Vinyl record album
One of Eddie's groovier Varitone albums, and a record that has a very electric sound to it! At times, Eddie's electric sax is so off-beat that you'd think he was playing a synthesizer instead of a sax, but in true Harris form, he always keeps it funky, and even the weird sounds have a great groove ... LP, Vinyl record album
A beautiful little record from the Art Ensemble of Chicago – and although performed for a bigger label than some of their previous indie outings, the set may be one of the most dynamic the group ever recorded! Atlantic Records is clearly giving the group a lot of space here – as they're ... LP, Vinyl record album
Darkly imaginative work from the great Lennie Tristano – and one of the few full albums he ever cut as a leader! The record features the incredible track "Turkish Mambo" – which has Tristano overdubbed 3 times in this dark modal way that's totally amazing, and which will hook ... LP, Vinyl record album
