Som Livre Exportacao

Temporarily Out Of Stock

LP, Vinyl record album

✈
❔
A very cool collection of work on the legendary Forma Records label from Brazil – with work from Ivan Lins, O Terco, Trio Mocto, Elis Regina, Maria Bethania, and Cesar Costa Filho – plus the tracks "Top Top" by Os Mutantes, and "Coracao Vagabundo" by Caetano Velso and Gal Costa!  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Vinyl is great, but has a very short click on side one. Cover has a small rip on the opening edge, which has also been taped.)

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Milestone, 1976. Near Mint-
A fantastic set of 70s jazzy grooves, served up with a very unique criss-crossing of modes – as the record was created by brothers Hugo and Jorge Fattoruso, who emerged on the 60s scene in Uruguay with some great work in bossa nova and jazz – recording here with Airto at the production ... Paulo Diniz

Paulo Diniz (1972)
Odeon (Brazil), 1972. Very Good+
A really interesting album – with the complicated MPB feel of some of the best work on Odeon at the time. The style here mixes rootsy instrumentation and vocals with some larger concepts and electric touches – including great piano and organ by Dom Salvador, and musical direction by ... Gal Costa

Personalidade
Philips (Brazil), 1970s/Early 1980s. Near Mint-
Gal's always been one of Brazil's greatest artists – whether she was singing strange raw tunes during her Tropicalia period, or moving into nice jazzy material during her later years. This set's a good introduction to her work, and it includes a lot of nice tracks that we don't always turn ... LP, Vinyl record album
Favorite (France), 2012. Near Mint-
A contemporary set, but one that sparkles with all the best brilliance of the 70s scene in Brazil – and that includes such heady company as Marcos Valle, Azymuth, and Joao Donato! As with all those artists at the time, Lucas Arruda has a groove that's strongly based on Fender Rhodes – ... LP, Vinyl record album
Chantecler (Brazil), 1975. Very Good- Gatefold
Sweetly compressed rock from O Terco – one of the strongest mainstream Brazilian rock acts of the 70s, and a group who managed to fuse their progressive roots into a well-honed sound by the time of this mid 70s set! There's some nice Brazilian elements bubbling underneath the set's heavier ... LP, Vinyl record album
Warner, 1977. Near Mint-
A lot smoother than most of Airto's other work – and almost more of a soul record than a jazz one – but also a great batch of grooves with a really spirited feel! Airto's percussion is still relatively up front in the mix, and smooth funky LA arrangements take the album to a warm ... LP, Vinyl record album

Elis Regina & Antonio Carlos Jobim

Elis & Tom
Philips (Brazil), 1974. Near Mint-
An incredible album – and a landmark session that showed that the bossa nova was still alive and well in the 1970s! The album pairs the breathy jazz vocals of Elis Regina with the booze-soaked warmth of Antonio Carlos Jobim – in a set of spare arrangements that feature a lot of touches ... LP, Vinyl record album

Jorge Ben

Sonsual
Som Livre (Brazil), 1984. Near Mint-
One of Jorge Ben's smooth groovers from the 80s – a set of tunes that's a bit tighter than his work from the previous decade, but still plenty darn soulful! The samba side of Ben's music has ben submerged slightly amidst more electric instrumentation – but the overall sound is quite ... LP, Vinyl record album

Os Mutantes

Os Mutantes (1968)
Polydor (Brazil), 1968. Near Mint-
A landmark album from late 60s Brazil! This is the first – and the wildest – album by this legendary group that was one of the founding forces of the Tropicalia movement – a brilliant musical statement that easily ranks with some of the most groundbreaking late 60s American work ... Bobby Hutcherson

San Francisco
Blue Note, 1971. Very Good+
Genius, pure genius! This album's possibly the most perfectly realized set from the team of Bobby Hutcherson on vibes and Harold Land on reeds – a pair who hit territory that's slightly funky, but which is also still touched by the modal spiritualism of some of their earlier work together! ... Horace Silver

Stylings Of Silver
Blue Note, 1957. Very Good
A great Horace Silver album – and one of the rarest! The record features some top-line material that virtually defines Silver's post-Jazz Messengers sound – tracks that come out with a hard and heavy groove, yet which also have a lightness in the mix too – a sense of play and ...
