Sweet Funky Steel

LP (Item 19662) Janus, 1973 — Condition: Very Good+
Originally: 34.99
A very strange record that mixes funky backing with steel guitar playing, for a weird guitar-based soulful sound that's unlike anything else we can describe! Harvey Mandel produced the album, and it's got a little bit of the feel of his work from the same time, but the drums are tighter, and heavier, and there's some very nice moments on here with a good break-heavy potential. Cuts include "Million Dollar Feeling", "Del Conto Shuffle", "Joaquin", "Cause & Effect", and "Smoked Fish".  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Cover has some light surface wear.)

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Hot
Polydor, 1975. Near Mint-
One of the lesser-known albums from the mid 70's, and one that includes a mix of remakes of old stuff, and some faster tracks that seem to be aimed at the dancefloor. Dave Matthews arranged a number of tracks, including "Hot", "So Long", and "(I Love You) For Sentimental ... LP, Vinyl record album

Atlantic, 1978. Very Good+
