Estradas

LP (Item 196416) Odeon (Brazil), 1976 — Condition: Very Good
Beautiful mid-70s work from Paulo Diniz – a very hip album with great arrangements from Joao Donato!  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Includes insert.)

Very Good

  • Vinyl can have some dirt, but nothing major.
  • May not shine under light, but should still be pretty clean, and not too dirty.
  • May have a number of marks (5 to 10 at most), and obvious signs of play, but never a big cluster of them, or any major mark that would be very deep. Most marks should still not click under a fingernail.
  • May not look near perfect, but should play fairly well, with slight surface noise, and the occasional click in part of a song, but never throughout a whole song or more.
  • This is clearly a copy that was played by someone a number of times, but which could also be a good "play copy" for someone new.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Odeon (Brazil), 1969. Very Good
Great work from Paulo Diniz – a near-lost samba soul singer from the end of the 60s – working here on an amazing little record for Odeon/EMI! Paulo's work has a very unusual style – in that it's a bit soulful, with some touches of folk, but is also often handled in a baroque mode ... LP, Vinyl record album

Odeon (Brazil), 1972. Very Good+
A really interesting album – with the complicated MPB feel of some of the best work on Odeon at the time. Elza Soares & Miltinho

Elza Miltinho E Samba
Odeon (Brazil), 1967. Very Good+
The first pairing of Elza Soares and Miltinho is a delight throughout – a set that follows on the Brazilian duet style of the time, but seems to handle things with even more charm and flair throughout – never just forcing the two singers together in the company of a tune, but really ... Moreira Da Silva

A Volta Do Malandro
Odeon (Brazil), 1959. Very Good
Wonderful work from the later years of Moreira Da Silva – an album that really shows Da Silva hitting a mature sort of stride! EMI/Odeon (Brazil), Late 60s/Early 70s. Very Good
Edgey pop work from the enigmatic singer Taiguara – a bit sweet, a bit baroque, and one of those talents who was secretly helping to push Brazilian pop into the next level! The album features Taiguara's hits, and is a bit less experimental than some of his non-single album cuts – but ... LP, Vinyl record album

Dick Farney & Claudette Soares

Tudo Isto E Amor

Mid 70s and mellow work from two legendary Brazilian vocalists – the great Dick Farney and the lovely Claudette Soares, singing here in a set of duets that include a number of classic Brazilian tunes set to lush arrangements. Taiguara

Hoje
Odeon (Brazil), 1969. Very Good+
Compelling work from Taiguara – a romantic singer, but one with a real edge! At first listen, the album seems to be sweet pop – but as it progresses, there's some great elements that really open up the sound and take it into the world of the baroque. One of these is the group Quarteto ... LP, Vinyl record album

Milestone, 1976. Near Mint-
A fantastic set of 70s jazzy grooves, served up with a very unique criss-crossing of modes – as the record was created by brothers Hugo and Jorge Fattoruso, who emerged on the 60s scene in Uruguay with some great work in bossa nova and jazz – recording here with Airto at the production ... Gal Costa

Personalidade
Philips (Brazil), 1970s/Early 1980s. Near Mint-
Gal's always been one of Brazil's greatest artists – whether she was singing strange raw tunes during her Tropicalia period, or moving into nice jazzy material during her later years. This set's a good introduction to her work, and it includes a lot of nice tracks that we don't always turn ... LP, Vinyl record album
Favorite (France), 2012. Near Mint-
A contemporary set, but one that sparkles with all the best brilliance of the 70s scene in Brazil – and that includes such heady company as Marcos Valle, Azymuth, and Joao Donato! Sweetly compressed rock from O Terco – one of the strongest mainstream Brazilian rock acts of the 70s, and a group who managed to fuse their progressive roots into a well-honed sound by the time of this mid 70s set!
