Tutankhamun

LP (Item 19295) Freedom, 1969/1974 — Condition: Used
Out Of Stock

LP

2 long tracks recorded by the Art Ensemble in Paris during June of 1969. This was a tremendously productive time for the group, and it shows in the tracks "The Ninth Room" and "Tthinitthedalen". They run through a gamut of instruments, a wild range of sounds, yet never manage to lose their focus. Great stuff, with a lot of fire, and none of the weak moments that bogged them down later. (UK pressing. Cover has some wear on the bottom seam.)  © 1996-2016, Dusty Groove, Inc.

We realize that there are many different interpretations of the standard grades used for pre-owned vinyl record albums & CD, so we thought we'd offer you the ones that we are working with, so you have an idea what we mean when we give the grade for a non-new item on our pages.

Used Vinyl Grades

Below are stated conditions for a used vinyl records at Dusty Groove. Grading for the cover should be assumed to be near (within a "+" or "-") the grading for the vinyl. If there is significant divergence from the condition of the vinyl, or specific flaws, these will be noted in the comments section of the item. However, please be aware that since the emphasis of this site is towards the music listener, our main concern is with the vinyl of any used item we sell. Additionally, please note that all of our records are graded visually; considering the volume of used vinyl we handle, it is impossible for us to listen to each record. If we spot any significant flaws, we make every attempt to listen through them and note how they play.

The following grading conditions apply to the vinyl component of an album or single:

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Phase One (original America pressing)
America (France), 1971. Very Good
One of the headiest albums ever recorded by the Art Ensemble of Chicago – a brilliant mix of noise and silence that rivals some of the greatest genius of the 20th century avant composition! The album's lead track "Ohnedaruth" builds slowly with a variety of percussion – ... LP, Vinyl record album

Les Stances A Sophie (Nessa pressing)
Nessa, 1970. Very Good+
Probably the greatest album ever by the Art Ensemble of Chicago – and also one of their rarest! The album was cut for Pathe Marconi in Paris in 1970, and was the soundtrack to a film that was as obscure as the album. The group's never been finer – and plays with a creative tightness ... Album of solo tracks recorded in Zurich in 1974, and with a very nice mellow groove. Idle Moments
Blue Note, Early 60s. Very Good+
A warmly melodic session from Blue Note's greatest guitarist! The sound of the set's as evocative as the title – an idle moment of space between the notes, explored by Green's tight single-note work on guitar – and wonderfully supported by a lineup that includes Joe Henderson, Bobby ... Impulse, Late 60s. Very Good+ Gatefold
An incredible record from Sun Ra! The session was recorded in New York in the late 60s – and it features Ra playing the "solar sound instrument", which is actually a modified Hohner Clavinet, used here with some really spooky sounds! The setting of the album is spare and moody ... LP, Vinyl record album

3 Sounds
Blue Note, 1971. Very Good
The last Three Sounds album for Blue Note – and the funkiest too – thanks to lots more electrification than usual, and some killer arrangements from the mighty Monk Higgins! Impulse, 1965. Very Good+ Gatefold
A pure statement of being and essence – and one of John Coltrane's spiritual masterpieces from the 60s! A masterpiece from George Braith – one of the most unique sax players of the 60s! Kelly Great
Vee Jay, 1960. Very Good+
One of Wynton Kelly's greatest albums, and an all-star hardbop session that includes Lee Morgan, Wayne Shorter, Paul Chambers, and Philly Joe Jones.
