Compelling work from Taiguara – a romantic singer, but one with a real edge! At first listen, Hoje seems to be sweet pop – but as it progresses, there's some great elements that really open up the sound and take it into the world of the baroque. One of these is the group Quarteto Forma, who join Taiguara on 2 great tracks, and another is the use of organ and strings in a style that's got the edgey feel of 60s soundtrack work. Lots of odd moments – and tracks include "Hoje", "Valsa Da Primavera", "Monica Monica", "Tarde", "Frevo Novo", "Nada Sei De Eterno", "Vim", "Tributo A Jaco Do Bandolim", and "Castigo". Viagem is another excellent record that picks up on some of the groovy sounds that was showing up on other Odeon albums at the time. Part of this is thanks to Gaya, who handled the orchestrations on most of the album – giving the record a cool baroque pop feel that really spices things up nicely on a few tracks. The record features three tracks cut with Som Imaginario – "Geracao 70", "Tema De Eva", and "Em Algum Lugar Do Mundo" – plus the titles "Universao No Teu Corpo", "Maria Do Futuro", and "A Transa".  © 1996-2025, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Used CD Grade

We use the all-encompassing grade "Used CD" for non-new CDs because we only buy and offer used CDs in the best possible condition.

When you purchase a used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use, but if there are significant details or defects we describe the item's condition (just like we do with LPs), so look for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details before ordering.

All of our used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. After you receive a used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly. If it does not, you can request a return for a full refund.

Condition Notes

If something is relevant, we try to describe it in the notes — especially if it is release or packaging details, or an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the CD. This might include, but isn't limited to, scratches, tracks that skip, case/insert damage or wear, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

A really great live tribute to older bossa – performed by a host of key talents of the 60s, stepping out here with a strength to match their earlier work! The format is respectful and simple – mostly spare jazzy backing behind lightly-crafted vocals – all done in a way that's ... CD

A stunning lost bossa nova soundtrack! The score was penned for the 1967 film Garota De Ipanema (Girl From Ipanema), and although you've heard some of the tracks before in other versions, the overall album is very nice – and is a wonderful tribute to the early days of bossa nova! Jobim and ... CD
