Special Herbs Vol 1 & 2 (Instrumentals)

LP (Item 191396) Nature Sounds/Metal Face, 2000s — Condition: Sealed
2LP
The first 2 volumes from Doom's now seminal spice rack of beats – on double vinyl! These ingredients stretch way back, all the way to the KMD days, plus other beats, samples, and instrumental stew from the classic Operation: Doomsday, King Ghidorah and some less familiar efforts. Beats by Metal Fingers, Spinna, Subroc, Cucumber Slice and more. Titles include include "Saffron", "Arrow Root", "Coriander", "Shallots", "Red #40", "Mugwort", "All Spice", "Lovage", "Eucalyptus", "Myrrh" and more.  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Sealed

This is what it says, that the record is still held fast in shrink-wrap. We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time, we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape — which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played, the record will still qualify as "Sealed".

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Columbia, 2002. Near Mint- 2LP
One of the records that marked a key moment when Nas was returned to the glory of his earliest years – coming across with a renewed sort of intensity, and lyrics that maybe put even more of the man himself inside of his music! There's still plenty of street show going on here, but Nas blends ... LP, Vinyl record album

Bulletproof Wallets
Epic, 2001. Near Mint- 2LP
Ghostface's follow up to Supreme Clientele – a career benchmark of a predecessor to live up to, no doubt about that – and the Ghost does just with that with Bulletproof Wallets! It's a strong, deep cut above a lot of the Wu work of the later 90s and early 00s – with some tracks ... LP, Vinyl record album

Elektra, 1991. Near Mint- 2LP
A hell of a record from the early 80s scene – a set that many folks slept on when first released, yet a record that's gone on to be every bit as classic as work from De La Soul or Tribe Called Quest in their prime! Of course, part of the album's fame has expanded over the years – as ... LP, Vinyl record album

Outkast

Aquemini
LaFace, 1998. Near Mint- 3LP
Still the Atlanta duo's high water mark – and yes, we did love Stankonia. Relentless hype, Grammys, and the Village Voice be damned! Tracks include "Rosa Parks", "Skew It On The Bar-B" featuring Raekwon, "Aquemini", "Synthesizer" featuring George ... LP, Vinyl record album
Subverse, 1994. Very Good+ 2LP
A legendary record from KMD – the group's second album, which was unissued at the time because their label had an issue with the now-famous cover image! Polydor, 1984. Very Good+
Sure, maybe Breakin wasn't the most accurate, most faithful portrait of life on the streets in the early 80s – but the film was a great breakout moment for hip hop culture in the mainstream, and also helped sell the new style with a heavy dose of soul! The real stars here are Ollie & ... LP, Vinyl record album

Idle Moments
Blue Note, 1963. Near Mint-
A warmly melodic session from Blue Note's greatest guitarist! The sound of the set's as evocative as the title – an idle moment of space between the notes, explored by Green's tight single-note work on guitar – and wonderfully supported by a lineup that includes Joe Henderson on tenor, ... Dizzy Gillespie

Dizzy In Greece
Verve, 1956. Very Good+
Dizzy's in Greece, looking very cool in a fez on the cover – and really wailing hard with a larger group that includes Billy Mitchell, Charlie Persip, Lee Morgan, Wynton Kelly, and Phil Woods! The mode here is still quite boppish, despite the larger size of the ensemble – but Dizzy ... LP, Vinyl record album
