Very Good

  • Vinyl can have some dirt, but nothing major.
  • May not shine under light, but should still be pretty clean, and not too dirty.
  • May have a number of marks (5 to 10 at most), and obvious signs of play, but never a big cluster of them, or any major mark that would be very deep. Most marks should still not click under a fingernail.
  • May not look near perfect, but should play fairly well, with slight surface noise, and the occasional click in part of a song, but never throughout a whole song or more.
  • This is clearly a copy that was played by someone a number of times, but which could also be a good "play copy" for someone new.

Condition Notes

If something is relevant, we try to describe it in the notes — especially if it is release or pressing details, or an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Donovan

Barabajagal
Epic, 1968. Very Good+
Donovan at his jazzy best – really picking up where Mellow Yellow left off, and pushing the jazz influences in his sound to deeper lengths! Mr Leitch is a million miles away from his Dylanesque early roots on the set – and is working in territory that's completely his own – a ... LP, Vinyl record album

Killer Whales

Emotional Geography
Ripete, 1983. Near Mint-
(Cover has a cutout hole, some ring and edge wear, some light stains and blemishes, and bent a bit at the edges.) LP, Vinyl record album
Slipped Disc, Mid 60s. Very Good
(Creative Artistry pressing in a plain sandwich sleeve, with light wear and aging, price sticker remnants, and pink cover slick.) LP, Vinyl record album
Mercury, 1977. Very Good+
(Cover has some blemishes in the lower corner.) LP, Vinyl record album
ABC, 1969. Very Good
A sweet bit of 60s sunshine, and a record that's every bit as charming as you might guess from the cover – served up by a group who are well into the best harmonies of the time, but also digging for something deeper too! The vibe isn't really psychedelic, but there's certainly some of those ... LP, Vinyl record album

Electric Prunes

Underground
Reprise, 1967. Very Good
The Electric Prunes are maybe best-remembered in terms of their collaboration with David Axelrod – but here, you'll hear the young group already sounding pretty dam great on their own – working with a set of their own arrangements, to create that moody, eerie vibe that instantly made ... LP, Vinyl record album

John Lennon

Imagine
Apple, 1971. Near Mint-
Not the out there primal scream of Plastic Ono, and more of an impeccably produced, easy to love landmark from John Lennon! The title track, beautiful as it is, is so heavily ingrained into rock & roll myth making machine that it's become too easy to overlook how great most of the songs on the ... LP, Vinyl record album

Iron Butterfly

In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida
Atco, 1968. Near Mint-
The album that rocked a million dorm rooms back in the 60s – and for good reason, too – given that the title track is a side-long, totally jamming monster – the kind of track that was really revolutionary at the time, and which still has a hell of an impact all these many years ... LP, Vinyl record album

Harry Nilsson

Son Of Schmilsson
RCA, 1972. Very Good+ Gatefold
One of the wilder sets from Nillsson – careening from lovely piano pop with romantic vocals, to spaced out, good humored potty mouth excess – near honky tonk, to fuzzy pop rock – if you like Nilsson at his most unhinged, this is a great one! It's a stunner, actually – with ... LP, Vinyl record album

Bob James

One
CTI, 1974. Good Gatefold
A landmark album – not only for Bob James, but for CTI and the Fender Rhodes as well! This is the album where all the magic starts – the first of many extremely successful albums that Bob recorded during the 70s under his own name, and almost the birthplace of the modern hip hop ... Chic

C'est Chic
Atlantic, 1978. Very Good+
A massive set from the legendary Chic – and a set that has the dancefloor combo coming down perfectly throughout! Riffing Nile Rodgers guitars really make the tunes cook – as does the superb production – and although the record played plenty in discos and radios of the mainstream ... LP, Vinyl record album

Donald Byrd

Black Byrd
Blue Note, 1973. Very Good
A landmark album – Donald Byrd's first session with producer Larry Mizell, the man who went on to forever change the face of jazz funk! After rumbling around for a few years attempting electric styles that really didn't fit his mode, Donald wisely hooked up with Larry, and hit a groove here ... LP, Vinyl record album
