This is what it says, that the record is still held fast in shrink-wrap.
We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't
look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time,
we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape —
which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be
torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played,
the record will still qualify as "Sealed".
Additional Marks & Notes
If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially
if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record.
This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip,
cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.
A wonderful early album by The Dells – famous not just for the music, but also for the cover image – which shows two white lovers clasping on the beach, one of the key examples in soul music when an artist got pushed off the cover in the hopes of selling the record to a wider audience! ... LP, Vinyl record album
Brilliant 70s work by The Dells – and an album that has the group reinventing themselves wonderfully, by moving over to Philly and recording with Norman Harris! As he did with so many other artists at the time, Harris took the group firmly into the clubs with a soaring Sigma sort of groove ... LP, Vinyl record album
One thing about The Dells: They were always great! Even here, at the end of the 70s, in settings that are less perfect than their classic work for Cadet or Vee Jay, the group still sound wonderful – more daring vocally than most other harmony groups at the time, cutting through some smoother ... LP, Vinyl record album
A masterpiece of baroque soul! The great Charles Stepney is at the controls on this one, and he's serving up a stellar brew of high-concept soul tracks, perfectly suited for The Dells' amazing vocals. Nearly every cut is a pop tune – like "Love Is Blue", "Whiter Shade Of ... LP, Vinyl record album
A big move to Mercury for the Dells, after a pretty successful run at Cadet in the late 60s and early 70s – but the group's still in fine form vocal-wise, and on many of these they're still working with the great Don Davis, who gave the band a strong 70s soul groove, similar to his work with ... LP, Vinyl record album
Fantastic bit of Chicago soul, featuring the Dells at their most mature, banked in amazing arrangements by the great Charles Stepney. There's a long version of "Stay In My Corner", plus the great title cut, and two fantastic tracks that have some great John Cage-esque prepared piano on ... LP, Vinyl record album
Mid 80s funky soul from Cashflow – a rare one cut for the Atlanta label, and produced by Larry Blackmon – a group R&B effort that seamlessly combines the club ready soul, funk, 80s rap influences and otherwise tightly thumping grooves Blackmon worked with at the time! Cashflow had ... LP, Vinyl record album
One of the last great pop records from Donna Summer – thanks to super huge radio and video play for the title cut – and to a huge amount of tuneful tracks put together by producer/arranger Michael Omartin! By this point, Summer isn't trying to fool anyone that she's a deeper soul ... LP, Vinyl record album
A super huge hit for Donna Summer – a disco classic as well as a pop crossover smash! The album was produced by disco powerhouse Giorgio Moroder, and featured the hits "Hot Stuff", "Bad Girls", and "Dim All The Lights". Plus the songs "On My Honor", ... LP, Vinyl record album
A classic bit of tripped-out soul from Buddy Miles – put together with a lot of nice psychedelic production, and an overall sound that stays nice and deep on the bottom end of things – and lets Buddy rock out heavily on rootsy vocals. There's no real standout funky numbers, but the ... LP, Vinyl record album
Later Bar-Kays at their best – still plenty funky, but also working in a smoothly soulful style that became the group's trademark sound at Mercury! The album's got a real bass-heavy appeal from the start – working in a mode that shares a lot with Cameo, The Gap Band, and some of the ... LP, Vinyl record album
A classic collaboration between 2 of the godfathers of Chicago soul – recorded at a time when both of them had emerged as proven big-sales artists, and were given the freedom to experiment in different styles with side projects like this. Here, they're singing in almost a Curtis Mayfield-esqu ... LP, Vinyl record album
