One of the many projects handled by AVI's Rinder & Lewis team – a jazz-inflected, keyboard-heavy duo that should be getting wider recognition with the club kids today! Side one of the album features an extended 2-parter of the great groover "Cocomotion" – done here with lots and lots of strings, catchy grooves, and great spacey keyboard work! Other tracks include "I'm Mad As Hell", "Got That Feeling", and "We Call It Disco" (they certainly do!) (Cover has wear, and some staining along the bottom seam – which is split.)  © 1996-2015, Dusty Groove, Inc.

We realize that there are many different interpretations of the standard grades used for pre-owned vinyl record albums & CD, so we thought we'd offer you the ones that we are working with, so you have an idea what we mean when we give the grade for a non-new item on our pages.

Used Vinyl Grades

Below are stated conditions for a used vinyl records at Dusty Groove. Grading for the cover should be assumed to be near (within a "+" or "-") the grading for the vinyl. If there is significant divergence from the condition of the vinyl, or specific flaws, these will be noted in the comments section of the item. However, please be aware that since the emphasis of this site is towards the music listener, our main concern is with the vinyl of any used item we sell. Additionally, please note that all of our records are graded visually; considering the volume of used vinyl we handle, it is impossible for us to listen to each record. If we spot any significant flaws, we make every attempt to listen through them and note how they play.

The following grading conditions apply to the vinyl component of an album or single:

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Blue Thumb, 1972. Very Good 2LP Gatefold
Plenty of darkness here from Phil Upchurch – those great tones and notes he worked so well back in the 70s – all with that near-perfect quality that made him one of the most in-demand players of his day! The style here is a bit different than some of Phil's previous work in Chicago ... LP, Vinyl record album

We Produce, 1973. Very Good+
Heavenly heavenly vocal group soul! Although recorded in Memphis for the Stax subsidiary of We Produce, the sound of the record is much more in keeping with some of the best of the New Jersey group soul records from the time – fragile at times, with a sweetness that's quite different than ... Piece Of The Action
Curtom, 1977. Very Good+
One of the last great 70s soundtracks on Curtom Records – a smoking little set that pairs the music of Curtis Mayfield with the vocals of Mavis Staples! Curtis is very much in charge of the record from the start, and works in a hard-stepping and righteous mode that recalls his earlier work ... LP, Vinyl record album
