Serenade

CD (Item 188094) Philly World/Essential, 1985 — Condition: Used
Out Of Stock

CD

✈
A sultry serenade from Eugene Wilde – one of his great 80s albums for the Philly World label – put together in a mix of warm soul vocals and catchy, upbeat rhythms! Wilde slides into some mellow territory on a few ballads – but most of the set is bubbling over with tracks that have Eugene stepping into Philly modern territory – that boogie-inflected mode that came into the city's scene in the 80s, upbeat and nicely positive overall! Titles include "Prelude", "Good & Plenty", "Don't Say No", "Are You Coming Over", "I Want You", "Here I Go Again", and "Diana".  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We only use the grade "Used CD" for non-new CDs. This all-encompassing grade was chosen it because we only buy and offer used CDs in the best possible condition.

When you purchase a used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use, but if there are significant details or defects we will describe the item's condition (just like we do with LPs), so look for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details before ordering.

All of our used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. After you receive a used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly. If it does not, you can request a return for a full refund.

A beautiful record, and one that continues the "less is more" approach that works so well for Sade! The record really puts the vocals at the forefront, while still also finding the right kind of lean groove to make them work so well – important, as the breathier style of singing ... CD

The smooth debut of Portrait – a soul harmony group with an approach that's just right for the early 90s years – often set to the kind of beat-heavy rhythms of the new jack generation, but with a way of coming together that goes back to the old school too! This approach seems to work ... CD

Motown, 1968. Used
Sophisticated soul is right – as The Marvelettes were one of the groups who really helped give Motown a sense of class in the 60s – but who could also balance their sense of poise with some nice depth on their vocals! The album's a great one for the trio of Wanda Rogers, Anne Bogan, ... CD
