Gala 79 Apresenta O Melhor De Raul Seixas Belchior E Guilherme Arantes

LP (Item 179869) Gala (Brazil), 1970s — Condition: Near Mint-
(Late 70s issue. Cover has light wear, aging, lightly bent panels, and a promo stamp.)

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Brazilian singer Momo might well be taking the title of this album seriously – as the whole thing's got a nicely stripped-down vibe that's somehow even more powerful than before – like those mid 70s moments when Cateano Veloso dropped out some of the instrumentation, and let all the ... An overlooked gem from Joyce – an album that features a fair bit of help from famous friends! Bad Donato
Blue Thumb, 1970. Sealed Gatefold
A wickedly funky album from Joao Donato – quite different than his earlier bossa sessions, and recorded in LA with a sweet jazzy bounce! Maria Creuza

Voce Abusou
RGE (Brazil), 1971. Very Good
One of Maria Crueza's best recordings! It's one of her better albums of bossa nova work, given a bit of a 70's twist, and with the kind of percussive edge that you hear in some of Crueza's other albums. Mike Ribas arranged, and the album features guest performances by Sebastio Tapajos and Pedro ... LP, Vinyl record album

Big Band Bossa Nova
Audio Fidelity, Early 60s. Very Good+
An excellent bossa session led by pianist Oscar Castro-Neves and his band, and recorded during the blitz of early bossa sessions by the Audio Fidelity label! The group's a large one, but not too large to lose the groove – and Castro-Neves put the whole thing together so that the album's ... LP, Vinyl record album

A great entry in this wonderful series – a tight set of batucada and percussion tracks, played by one of Brazil's more popular bandleaders, in a tight format that adds in some groovy touches!
