Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We only use the grade "Used CD" for non-new CDs. This all-encompassing grade was chosen it because we only buy and offer used CDs in the best possible condition.

When you purchase a used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use, but if there are significant details or defects we will describe the item's condition (just like we do with LPs), so look for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details before ordering.

All of our used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. After you receive a used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly. If it does not, you can request a return for a full refund.

Peter Tosh

Legalize It
CBS, 1975. Used
A real classic in mainstream reggae – the first full length set from Peter Tosh after his earlier singles with The Wailers! The record's still one of Tosh's greatest on record – composed, arranged, and produced by Peter himself – with tracks that include "Legalize It", ... CD

African Head Charge

My Life In A Hole In The Ground
On-U Sound (UK), 1998. Used
Seminal sounds from the On-U Sound label – and a record that perhaps provides one of the most lasting illustration of the label's genius! African Head Charge work in this unique blend of Jamaican dub, British post-punk electronics, and some earthier textures that might be more at home in ... CD
EMI/Capitol/Parlophone, Mid 70s-1980s. Used
A great slice of the latter part of Peter Tosh's career, militant hard roots rock as the title suggests. Production is by Tosh with Robbie Shakespeare for the most part, with 11 numbers in all, including "Coming In Hot", "Don't Look Back", "Pick Myself Up", "Cryst ... CD
Shanachie, 1978. Used
Following their very heavy Two Sevens Clash set, this fine effort alongside Sonia Pottinger stands up very nearly as well. Nice mellow harmony vocals ride some crisp backing, with some classic late 70s roots like "Stop The Fussing And Fighting" and "Holy Mount Zion", plus " ... CD

Drastic Season
On-U Sound (UK), 1998. Used
A record so cool, it's practically a genre unto itself – and a set that's a key part of the On-U Sound approach of the 80s! The group draw initial influence from 70s Jamaican dub, but never hold to just the roots of that music – and instead explode into a huge range of odd sounds and ... CD

Sly & Robbie

RAS, 1988. Used
It's the late 80s and the Rhythm Twins are working here with Fatis Burrell, peddling grooves very much in the Taxi Gang vein, with Sly contributing some snapping beats on his syn drums that echoed the digital revolution taking place in the dancehall. 8 fat tracks in all, including "All ... CD

Jimmy Cliff & Others

Harder They Come
Island, 1972. Used
A record that's not only a landmark in Jamaican music – but also a set that was to reggae what Curtis Mayfield's Superfly was to 70s soul! In other words, the set not only raised the bar for all the competition, it also ended up in a lot more record collections than most of them too – ... CD
Creation, 1989. Used

Jethro Tull

Chrysalis (UK), 1971. Used
The album that really broke Jethro Tull out of the prog rock underground and into the mainstream – and a set that showed that the group weren't just a combo with creative use of flute, but a band that could really rock off their ass when they wanted to! Previous records were all pretty great ... CD
