Natural Seven

LP (Item 17585) RCA, Late 50s — Condition: Very Good+
Tight ensemble work from tenorist Al Cohn – heard here when he was at the height of his young powers as both a soloist and arranger! The rest of the group features very well-matched players – including Joe Newman on trumpet, Frank Rehack on trombone, Nat Pierce on piano, and Freddie Greene on guitar – and titles include "The Natural Thing To Do", "AC Meets Osie", "Baby Please", "Pick A Dilly", and "Count Me In".  © 1996-2025, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Mono pressing with deep groove. Cover has light wear and aging.)

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Condition Notes

If something is relevant, we try to describe it in the notes — especially if it is release or pressing details, or an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

RCA (UK), 1957/1962. Very Good+
Oh how we love this album – and we think it may well be the best album ever from Charles Mingus! The set was recorded in that magical Mingus year of 1957, but oddly not released until 1962 – missing some of the initial frenzy of his discovery during the Atlantic and Columbia years. ... One of the most righteous albums that Max Roach ever cut – and a monumental jazz release from the heart of the Civil Rights era! Miles Davis

On The Corner
Columbia, 1972. Very Good+ Gatefold
A sublime bit of Miles Davis electric funk – one of the best-remembered electric sets from the 70s, and for good reason too! The tracks are long, the jams are hard, and the whole thing has a lot more funk than some of the noise you'd get on other Miles albums of the time – thanks to ... LP, Vinyl record album
