Gaucho! – Songs & Dances Of The Argentine Pampas

LP (Item 175526) Columbia, 1958 — Condition: Sealed
(Mono pressing, still sealed in loose shrink, with some yellowing from age and a slit in the top seam.)

Sealed

This is what it says, that the record is still held fast in shrink-wrap. We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time, we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape — which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played, the record will still qualify as "Sealed".

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Sabu Martinez

Sorcery!
Columbia, Late 50s. Very Good
A strange little record – a bit different than usual from percussionist Sabu Martinez, and with a slight exotica feel too! Evening At The Pump Room
Mercury, 1958. Very Good
Although the big New York hotels had their share of great Latin pianists, Chicago had it's own great one during the 50s – in the person of the little-known David Le Winter, a supremely talented pianist who seems to have only cut this one album for Mercury during the 50s. The record itself is ... LP, Vinyl record album

Latin Fever
Liberty, Late 50s. Very Good+
One of the greatest albums of Latin Jazz ever recorded on the west coast during the 50s – and a landmark session from Jack "Mr Bongo" Costanzo! The album well earns its "fever" claim – as the set smokes from the very first note – Jack's bongos calling the pace ... LP, Vinyl record album
