All The Hits By Dee Dee Sharp

LP (Item 17429) Cameo, Mid 60s — Condition: Very Good

Well, they certainly got the title right on this one! Dee Dee sings all the hits (or some of them, at least!) in her youthful gutsy soul style. Tracks include "Snap Your Fingers", "Seven Day Weekend", "Playboy", "Don't Play That Song", "Village Of Love", "Loco-Motion", and "The Wah-Watusi". Production's uncredited, but it's in the usual stormin' Cameo/Parkway vein!  © 1996-2020, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Cover has some aging.)

Very Good

  • Vinyl can have some dirt, but nothing major.
  • May not shine under light, but should still be pretty clean, and not too dirty.
  • May have a number of marks (5 to 10 at most), and obvious signs of play, but never a big cluster of them, or any major mark that would be very deep. Most marks should still not click under a fingernail.
  • May not look near perfect, but should play fairly well, with slight surface noise, and the occasional click in part of a song, but never throughout a whole song or more.
  • This is clearly a copy that was played by someone a number of times, but which could also be a good "play copy" for someone new.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Orlons

Wah-Watusi
Cameo, 1963. Very Good+
A soulful classic from The Orlons – a wonderful vocal group that mixed together the sweet harmonies of three female singers, and one bass-heavy male! The result is a hip take on both girl group soul and some of the male modes of the time – given the way that the lead singer varies on ... LP, Vinyl record album
Cameo/London (UK), Mid 60s. Near Mint-
Three girls and a guy – and one of the greatest 60s soul groups to ever come out of Philly! Lou Rawls

Soulin'
Capitol, Late 60s. Very Good+
One of the best albums that Lou Rawls cut with the team of HB Barnum and David Axelrod – that incredible duo who made some of his 60s Capitol albums so great! The style here is wonderful – upbeat grooves from Barnum – who brings more soul into Lou's music than before – ... LP, Vinyl record album

Think what you want – we think this is a damn great soul album! Prince

Purple Rain
Warner, 1984. Near Mint-
One of the greatest crossover albums of the 80s – and the record that catapulted Prince very firmly into the mainstream! There's a tightness here that surpasses even that of Prince's early classics for Warner Brothers – an unabashed love of a pop hook that makes for some incredibly ... LP, Vinyl record album

Here's the side of 70s Isleys that we like the best – the mellow side! This tasty little collection features some hits by the group, but the best part about it is that it's got a focus on some of the more soulful ballads and laidback material, with less of the harder funky stuff.
