Sun Valley Serenade (10 inch) (UK pressing)

LP (Item 172455) His Master's Voice (UK), 1942 — Condition: Very Good+
(In a flip-back cover, with a small round sticker at the bottom left corner and a bit of gloss peel in back.)

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

The title sort of gives the whole thing away – so we'll just tell you that Glenn's playing versions of "Tuxedo Junction", "St Louis Blues", "In The Mood", "String Of Pearls", "Little Brown Jug", and "American Patrol". LP, Vinyl record album

Miles Davis & Sonny Stitt

Live in Stockholm 1960
Dragon (Sweden), 1960/1986. Near Mint- 2LP Gatefold
Incredible stuff – and a rare meeting of two giant jazz talents you'd never thought would appear on the same stage! The album features a 1960 concert in Sweden – Miles and Sonny upfront, with backing by the trio of Wyton Kelly, Paul Chambers, and Jimmy Cobb. Tracks are long, fiery, ... LP, Vinyl record album

George Benson

It's Uptown
Columbia, 1967. Very Good+
George Benson's first LP for Columbia – a hard, heavy, soul jazz slammer that bears no resemblance to his overproduced work of the 70s! The album's a real cooker – recorded hot on the heels of Benson's classic work on Prestige with the Jack McDuff group, and sounding a lot like McDuff's ... LP, Vinyl record album

Art Ensemble Of Chicago

Fanfare For The Warriors
Atlantic, 1974. Near Mint-
A beautiful little record from the Art Ensemble of Chicago – and although performed for a bigger label than some of their previous indie outings, the set may be one of the most dynamic the group ever recorded! Atlantic Records is clearly giving the group a lot of space here – as they're ... LP, Vinyl record album
Groove Merchant, 1974. Near Mint-
O'Donel Levy plays tight and funky guitar, and also sings a bit on the set – working with a tight combo that features Charles Covington on keyboards, and some great electric funk arrangements by Dave Matthews! The album's got a more full-on funk approach than some of Levy's more laidback ... LP, Vinyl record album

Jam Session
EmArcy, Mid 50s. Very Good+
A hell of a jam session record from Emarcy Records – a set that almost seems as if they jazz label were trying to beat Verve Records at their own game! The style here is a bit more unusual than some Verve dates, though – maybe even more in the spontaneous spirit of a real jam session ... LP, Vinyl record album
Inner City, 1950s/Early 60s. Near Mint-
Rare material from the great Lennie Tristano – a host of tracks that sit perfectly with his two landmark albums for Atlantic Records – and which maybe even push the envelope a bit more as well! The material is all from the 50s and early 60s – and is pulled together here in an ... LP, Vinyl record album

Ron Carter

Peg Leg
Milestone, 1978. Near Mint-
A great step in the evolution of Ron Carter from brilliant bassist to even more brilliant leader! The album's cut at a time when Carter was really moving his instrument from the back to the front – playing piccolo bass more than usual, and plucking with a pronounced groove, even in the ... Hank Mobley

Turnaround
Blue Note, 1963. Very Good+
One of the best-ever Hank Mobley albums on Blue Note – and a killer batch of soulful hardbop that was cut right around the same time as the classic No Room For Squares LP. In fact, the album contains work from 2 different sessions that filtered over to the Squares album – one that ... LP, Vinyl record album
