Tender Epoch

LP (Item 167587) Karma Chief, 2020 — Condition: Near Mint-
(Black vinyl pressing.)

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Steve Baron Quartet

Mother Of Us All
Tetragrammaton, 1969. Very Good+
The "quartet" in the group's name is well-placed – as there's almost a jazz combo undercurrent to the record at times – hiding beneath some folksier instrumentation and vocals in ways that remind us a lot of Tim Buckley's early best for Elektra! Steve Baron's perhaps a bit ... LP, Vinyl record album

Bootsy's Rubber Band

This Boot Is Made For Fonk-N
Warner, 1979. Very Good+
Bootsy's still keeping the P-Funk flag flying high at the end of the 70s – arguably stepping out here with a sound that's got more of the Parliafunkadelicment elements intact than some of George Clinton's other spinoff groups! The tracks are long, and plenty jamming – still with plenty ... LP, Vinyl record album

Sylvia

Pillow Talk
Vibration, 1973. Very Good
Wonderful stuff from Sylvia Robinson – the singer who scored big as a youngster in the Mickey & Sylvia group, and who later became the den mother of hip hop with her Sugar Hill label. Minnie Riperton

Minnie
Capitol, 1979. Very Good+
The last full album recorded by Minnie Riperton before she left our planet all too soon – and a killer batch of work that really has us wondering how great the world of soul music would have been, had Minnie stuck around to keep on growing into the 80s and 90s! The set's filled with the kind ... LP, Vinyl record album
Stang, 1973. Very Good
A great little record by The Moments – and actually one of their best LPs for Stang! It's supposedly a "best of" – but the record's really more of a solid album all the way through, with many tracks that aren't really big hits or anything. The group's harmonies are in great ...
